Of course, salary is important, but I dont believe that it's the most important aspect of any job.I'd rather be promoted with the aim of making a greater contribution to the firm's goals.Ideally I would hope that my salary would reflect my position within the company and the contribution I made to the organization.

well if i am asked that question now, i will really choose to have a higer salary since i know that my task will really need advancement. i believe that advancement will actually mean that your slary must at least be equal to it right? or maybe not in some other companies.

salary and advancement are equally important. Increasing salary and increasing advancement is good for me.

Well to be honest, for me its always been about the job position and advancement and not the money. Oh sure I get paid for working but the feeling of climbing that ladder, progressing, self development etc has always been more satisfying to me. When we moved to different countries I even took jobs that paid much more less, but because of the actual job responsibilities, its what attracted me to the position.

Salary is important but only to a certain point. even if you have a good salary and a great job, there will always be a time that you will feel too comfortable with your job and become satiated with it. you would look for advancement and will sometimes disregard your salary.

A promotion boosts one's confidence. It's like a medal that one wears to show the world (ok, that's too much, maybe the people he works with) that he's got what it takes to climb the corporate ladder. But I do believe that it a promotion must be accompanied with a salary raise because it would be pitiful to think that your career have advanced but your financial status is still the same. I mean, I am a very practical person, I do love to work because it keeps me going, keeps me busy, but money will keep me alive, keep me doing what I love to do, it's the reason why you work, for a living, right? So I say, an advancement must come with a raise....

I believe that those things go together. If a place of work appreciate you they advance you and give you a raise. Advancing someone at their place of work without giving them a raise, looks a bit like they are using a person. I would not agree to being in a higher role at the company that i will work at without getting a high celery, unless it is volunteer work. I think that a person gives an impression to his managers by what he wants in life, and if they see that okey, this person can do more things and can be in charge of many more people but will get paid the same, they will know that you do not appreciate yourself enough. I think that your celery will reflect your position.

I think it depends upon your priorities and needs in life. Personally, I need to be able to save to build our new house and computer shop. Also, to save for our son's future and our future kids. Then, the answer would be the salary. As long as we can attain the goals that I have mentioned, then I am fine with it. But if ever that I am financially stable and I already have attained my goals, only then will I choose career advancement. It is really great to get recognition for your good work. So my answer will be salary but that's because of the situation I am in now.

With promotions comes salary adjustment. They don't promote and don't compensate. As you go up the ladder the more is your responsibility that's is why they compensate you very well. Another way to get more salary without being promoted is to contribute to the company individually. If you accomplish something great they also compensate you well. To get the money, either you do it through good performance and/or good PR to management.

When i joined my new job last year i was not concerned about the salary. I was more concerned in doing well in my new job. I personally feel that if you want to reach the top of the ladder then you have to start from the first step. I started the first step last year and within my first 3 months my manager has given me temporary promotion and the pay is better as well. At the end of the day i want to be respected by others in what i do and i will do the same for others as well.

Both are important, first for our work, for life style, second is important for our our glory, for our glory, and why not for a good salary too. Is nice to see that your boss show you his good intentions for your work, is nice indeed.
