What Do You Do When You Are Sitting Near Rude People At The Movies?

We just came back from the movies and we had very rude people sitting behind us. The woman had to comment on every scene in the movie and they were constantly crumpling candy wrappers and just being generally obnoxious as if they were the only ones in the theatre. I didn't do anything about it and now, afterwards I'm wondering if I should have. Have you ever encountered this and if so, how did you handle it?

Oh yes , I did encountered this situation once. And the way you describe it, that's exactly how it happened. In addition, they were not only commenting on the movie but also talking about their friends. They were even having a sort of lovers' quarrel. Thanks to the flirty girl. Geez! I was so angry I wanted to throw anything to them. But I ended up with some "sshhh!", I even tried to talk aloud on how noisy they were. But I don't know if they really are insensitive or d..b. We decided to change sits on the far opposite wing of the theater. I was so upset really. It was, supposed to be a date to watch a good movie, but I ended up really angry and frustrated by this event. I hope I would never encountered so rude and obnoxious people like that again. They really spoiled my day out to the movies. (^^,) And sad to say too, there was no ushers around to reprimand them.

There are never any ushers around when you need them. One reason why we don't go out to the movies very much is because of this kind of behavior from other patrons. It's easier (and cheaper) to stay home and rent a movie. Thanks for your response.

Hey, this is a good question! It would depend on how much of a disturbance they are causing. If they are making noise, likely people will go "Shhhhhhhh..." and they will probably shut up. I once had someone (he was sitting in the row behind) who actually put his leg such that it would be keeping me company!! How disgusting! I turned around and asked him whether he mind getting his stinky feet away from me. He did. :P

Usually I just move to another seat if they follow I would say something or report it. I don't like to be around rude people they just don't have any sense at all. You are there to enjoy the show.Have a great day.

Usually in that situation I would just get up and move. I would love to yell at them to be quiet, but that solves little and they may just argue back which would ruin the movie for everyone. I've had kids in front of me before that were talking the whole movie and using their cell phones. We just ignored them, because the whole theater was full. Sometimes thats the most you can do.
