I have found that many of the students are not interested in writing. They have no patience to write carefully. Many mistakes can be found in their compositions, raning from spelling to grammar. I am at sea how to help them improve their writing skills. Would some one in my Lot give me some tips? Many thanks!

I would suggest that you have your student write a diary. The daily input would be in paragraph form, as if telling a story. That way, the student could identify with what he/she has been writing because it's about his/her daily activities. It worked on my tutorial student before when I was teaching him English. When his writing has improved a bit, I would give him interesting topics as homework that he could write about. An example would be: Education in your country is improving: Agree or disagree and explain your answer. It can be something much simpler than that. On my other student, I would make him read a simple and interesting book and I would give him questions about the book that he could answer as homework. I don't know if I have helped you, but then...Happy myLotting!

Yes, you've given me some good suggestions. In my country, students are busy doing endless exercises, preparing for the final examinations. The final natioal examination will determine their future. Whether they can be admitted to a pretty good university depends on his scores. As is often the case, they have no time to keep diary and even no patience to do this. To tell the truth, I am disappointed at nowadays education in my country. In a sense, we have sacrificed our children's health for the testing. I am depressed at the education. As a teacher, i am often forced to get the students prepared for examinations by doing some exercise repeatedly. Teachers are rated on the basis of the students scores rather than some other things. So sometimes i think my job like this is worthless.

I'm sorry but i want to know that which language are your students learning?Chinese or English? In my imagine you are a teacher lived in China and you are teaching English, isn't it? I'm also a student, and i think that when your students have interests in English will they make fewer mistakes in English learning, and what should you do is not only to teaching carefully but also to leading your students have interests in English. You can help them such as recommending some Ameican films like the Forrest Gump and The Shawshank Redemption etc to your syudents which will make your students know their inadequate in English and make they have the passion in leaning this language.Hoho, but it is said saying is always easier than doing and i know it's really hard to do that.you should get the answer from some old teachers for they had faced the same problem before and they have their ways to solve this kind of problem in many years' teaching.Isn't it?
