In Australia everyone has specific watering days for their gardens. In fact in some states they can only water from buckets. If you saw a neighbour watering their garden on the wrong day or wasting water, would you go and tell them or would you report them to the council?

Would you ring Crimestoppers to try to prevent a crime or to report a possible crime? Yes, of course. Would you report someone who is driving a car erratically? Yes, of course. Councils who have strict water restrictions have asked the public to report abusers. If I saw a friendly neighbour watering on the wrong day, I would nicely ask them if they had the days wrong. I would give them the opportunity to do the right thing. Some people can make honest mistakes. If a person constantly and knowingly broke the law, I would report them. The water crisis in many places is quite drastic and we must all do our part. Welcome to myLot. By the look of some of your discussions you will be a welcome asset. I hope we meet again.

Thank you for the welcome, I think we will get along really well. I have read some of your discussions too, and I must say, I like them very much. As for the water restrictions/breaking the law discussion, my sister actually saw a neighbour doing this. She reported her to the council straight away. The only thing that bothered me about this was, I would have knocked on the persons door first (as per your suggestion)and politely said. "Did you know you were watering on the wrong day"? I must admit I don't always find this an easy thing to do, but I think there comes a time in your life when you have to stand up and be counted. When it comes to environmental issues I'm standing up.

l will . That's if l knw the person in question will not take it negatively. That will be a patriotic thing to do . l personally don't like waste, and l get some kind of feelings that people who waste God is not happy with them ; cause there's somewhere in the bible where God says 'instead of u to eat and have a remant to throw away , you better eat just what ur capacity can handle' .

I wouldn't. It's none of my business. If they get caught, then they just get caught. I'm not that nosy.
