It seems that we are seeing the same discussions popping up over and over......

again. Does anyone else seem to notice that? I guess that is the downside to having so many members. It is hard to think of something different that has not been discussed to death. Yet, I find that you have to make the discussions fairly uncomplicated as many people on here struggle with the English language. I think I have seen "coke or pepsi" about 8 times and yet each time, it gets lots of responses because it is simple. I have tried starting some discussions that take some thought and only get a few responses. So maybe the answer on mylot is to spend most of the time here responding to the same discussions even if they are repeats. That appears to be where the money is earned.

Well i totally agree with you, today i responded towards only two of my interests cricket and money making and every now and than i saw a similar discussion popping up and it isnt about days its just on same day similar discussion all around, perhaps its because of lack of ideas or maybe its about other forums aswell people being member of few forum seeing some topic there and without searching here posting same one right here, but still there is one thing more people have different time phases around the world and whenever a similar topic started perhaps it might be new to them as its always on the top of any search and they found it brand new topic and respond to that.

I think that makes sense that there would be a time difference. I suppose when you think about it, there is nothing wrong with having a question repeated several times. Because really, tons of people could miss it the first time around. It's not spamming. It would be if you asked the same quesion 3 or 4 times in the same day.

Yes, I believe you are absolutely right. But so what if they are repeated, different people response and that is okay. It is funny because I never saw a coke or pepsi discussion and I was going to post one. I am running out of things to talk about here.

I struggle trying to think of original topics to start a discussion about - in fact I rarely do start new discussions for that reason. It's funny you should mention "coke or pepsi" because that's one discussion topic that I've seen lots of times! I know a lot of people on myLot set themselves a target to start so many discussions each day whether they really have anything to say or not so I guess that accounts for a lot of the repetition!

Yes well I do see a lot of similar discussions not exactly the same but the same topic, although when I put my discussions I have varied it a couple of times and will be also doing that in the next couple of days as well. Yes probably you are right that this is where the money is earnt it does not seem right though does it.

Yes, I have noticed this too. And it is disgusting. And I have seen many "reputable" myLotters copying too. Then again, it might just be a coincidence. For one, I wouldn't know if I had accidentally "copied" someone else's discussion. :P

I think this is another of those discussions that is pooping up over and over again? No criticism meant, it's just so true and frustrating, I know exactly what you mean. I have spent time responding lengthily, only to realize, well d'oh, this is a duplicate. Not only did I waste my time, but the root discussion will probably get deleted and I will have wasted my time and whatever I could have earned by posting to somithing les over-done. How much spring cleaning is MYlot doing anyhow? I am fairly new, as I've only been here a month. I have seen posts by people saying they have had eight of their dicussions deleted or what have you. Is this a result of the 'highly complex algorhythms', or because they were reported?

I haven't seen hardly anything made by having people respond to my discussions. I really think it doesn't pay. Really just keep posting to other discussions. Yes it does seem sometimes like they are the same discussions after a while but for the most part people are trying. I do believe there is just so much that has already been done that there isn't much left to post. However I think for the people working on their English skills this is a good place for them. I can tell who here doesn't speak english as their first language. Really forgive it and hey answer all of them. Some people don't even think to look and see if anyone else posted the same discussion. They are just having fun or they could be in the very beginning and not knowing if this site really pays or not. For the most part I know that there are very few that do. I just went crazy to see if this place really paid at first by answering all stupid easy questions because I didn't know if it did or not. They will see.

Yeah, myLot can kinda go up and down. Somedays you don't know how you are going to find the time to respond to all the conversations you would like to, then on other days you can find anything you want to discuss. As a result, you kinda just poke around and do your best to answer a few simple things so that you can at least make a few pennies that day. As for me, I can't tell you how many times I've seen "What kind of pizza do you like?" or any other variable of that one. Sometimes people will post pretty much the same question twice in a row because they never bothered to look at the other quetions that were in that section. I try not to answer the same question over and over again, because then I think I would get bored really fast. Sure, I like making money on here, but I also want to enjoy myself as well.

i know what you mean. i hate seeing the ones that are like my refferal name is this what is yours? well everyone has the same url just put your name instead of theres lol. things like that really bother me. now i can see how some get doubled it is an honest mistake but sometimes you can tell it is not. in fact i have seen this one that you did here that i am responding to about 8 times in the last month. i doubt if you are asking this though and like you said just trying to make a penny. i think i did it the other day i put a question up and when i looked i saw that some else posted the same question just about 1 min apart from mine. we must of been typing it at about the same time. i felt bad and was wishing there was a way to take mine off. i do like to ask questions on here about what people would do if or why they did this or abotu a memory etc it is not just to be posting it is cause when i respond to those i think about what i am going to write and sometimes it brings back things i had forgotten about and to me it is a way to get to know peopel here. now i would never ask which do you prefer coke or pepsi or pizza or speghetti etc that is just dumb to me. i wont even respond to those cause i think those are wrong and should be on another site like dormcheck. that site has no feel to it it is just money this site has a feel to it not just about money but of friendships and helping and caring.

mylot.com - discussions topics are good in mylot
True, as there ar 85000 members in mylot, it is very hard to prevent duplication of discussions topics. You may need to have some ideas to start a good discussion, when you are running out of ideas, the best way is to start with something general like why do you join mylot or how much do you earn in mylot. Honestly I had ever started these topics before, it is very normal. I mean if you have experienced an increase or decrease in earnings, you would like to share it with your friends and see how they are going. When 85000 get the same feelings and they may start similar topics at the same time,i do not even mean something like copy and paste stuff, it is another topic. Of couse people like things to be easy and are reluctant to answer some hard discussions, but it seems that simply pepsi and coke discussions should be in other forum, not in mylot, because people can only answer with one line and it is useless in mylot. Anyway,I would say the quality of mylot discussions are very high, and the overlap of discussions are unavoidable, but we still have alot of choices in selecting what to reply.

I think the number of responds is somehow related to the tags. We search discussions through these tags. If the tags are common, they are easy to be consider. So the responds to these discussions will be much more.

Yes I agree, I havent been a member very long and I have seen the same posts all the time. Even copied ones! I don't understand it myself. Sometimes I will answer a "no brainer" but I have to have something to say, I don't do one line answers. So if I cant add to it, I dont waste my time answering. It seems like for every 1 good post that requires some thought, there are 40 that are either impossible to answer, spam, copied or overused. It makes it hard to actually find the good posts!

I hope you report the copied ones and any spam. It is only as members help myLot that the community will continue to be a happy place for all.

I'm not really sure about the earning money thing but I think there are so many repaeat post because it would take to long to go back and see what post have been done and then to read them all for the answers. I asked a question that I was sure I could find in the facts somewhere but I knew it would be alot easier just to ask and less time to just ask less than a min later I had an answer.

I think that if my myLot experience was reduced to answering the same questions over and over, I wouldn't be here. In fact, myLot says this type of discussion should NOT be posted and I will not even open them. The only discussion I have repeatedly answered is one from newbies asking about star ratings or how to achieve quality postings. I'll agree we do see the same discussions posted over and over, but there are ways to find good, in depth discussions. If friends are chosen wisely, choosing ones who post good discussions and who enjoy good, in depth, continuing debates in a courteous, friendly and intelligent way, it is simple to follow their discussions and to enjoy many happy hours. Of course, if the only reason for being here is to make money, this will probably not apply. We don't get paid for continuing comments in threads, but they do give this community a bond of friendliness.

yes, that sounds absolutely righ.t there are quite a lot of people here in mylot respond to thussions raised by the members. and i have search the discussions but find that the discussion s are all about the trivialities and pretty boring. so maybe the issues you raised here cna attract lot of people's attention. so good luck.................

Yeah, I also noticed that. Maybe you're right, it is really hard to post some discussion that would get the attention of MyLot members. It seems that we have talked about alot of issues here. In my case, I was not aware that I have to check my topic before posting them. I was only new that time, I just post and post different issues until I have read the guidelines. With that, I started checking topics if there was someone who have already opened it to everyone.

I found the question ironic, only because someone else basically asked the same thing, but worded differently. I totally agree with you that there is a language issue so that keeps the subjects to a minimum, but I also think that some people just cannot think beyond the "coke vs. pepsi" mentality or they just don't want to as this serves as some sort of escape for them. Also, you are right about the money being earned falls on these types of questions. I guess great minds think alike today.

I haven't posted many responses yet, as I'm new here, but I actually haven't noticed that many discussions repeated.
