How is the housing market in your area? Have the prices of homes stabilized or are they still going up? In my area the prices of homes has gone up alot, however over the last 6- 8 months they seem to have stabilized. It will be interesting to hear how prices are in other states and parts of the country.

The housing market here on the west coast of Canada has boomed. It is gotten so out of hand that regular people with regular jobs can't afford a house. If they are lucky maybe a condo. The Apartment vacancies are at an all time low as the apartments are being turned into condos. A few years ago you could get a starter house for a couple hundred thousand and now in this city the littlest you'll pay is about 300,000! It is just out of control, and here I sit with no money to invest and flip a house like is popular in the USA now. But they say it should slow down in the next few years. I'll believe it when I see it.

the newer homes have stabilized, the older ones keep dropping. They have to compete with quite a few new developments, so they have to lower their prices.

Prices in our area have pretty much stablizied. But the prices are still way too high for the average person around here to buy a home. :( A couple three years ago you could buy a home in the 100,000 range, even a little less. Now you only find junk yards that low. Its so sad

I think houses are pretty high here, but I'm not sure if they are stablizing or not, because we weren't in the market for one until last month. We live on a military base right now, and I know that if you go 15-20 miles south, to the main town, houses are running around $125K for a decent 3 bedroom house. I know that compared to some areas, that is pretty cheap, but when you consider how low our housing allowance is compared to other places, it's just crazy. To be able to afford a house payment on just my husband's housing allowance (not including any utilities or anything) we would have to put down a huge down payment to get one that was in ready to move into shape. Instead, we opted to move 15 miles NORTH of base, where we could get a house for about 1/3 of the price. It will actually be a little bit quicker for my husband to get to work. Sure, we won't be so close to shopping, but we will save money this way. lol

Here, in metro Detroit, the housing market is crap actually. It seems like a lot of people are moving out of the state. Also the problems with the auto industry has caused a lot of people to foreclose on their home or go bankrupt. Its actually really sad. I guess its a buyer's market here if you are looking.

the housing market here is very very high, you cannot even find a house that sells less then 250,000 and for that you can get a cheap 2 bedroom
