I just got my star but I'm kind of sad that its only a 5. What are some things that affect the number besides quality posts? I think I have quality posts but I'm obviously lacking somewhere.

Well five isnt that bad for a start, you'll gain points every day and after few days you'll be like in 8th or even 9th star, what you have to do is just post some quality long responses and try to respond to your friends discussions in the earliest as they will certainly give you positive rating as that rating to you will decide your reputation points i always rate my friends postively, and i guess they do vice versa so it isnt that difficult to get positive points for your reputaion, you can see the + - ! signs to the right of my response and if you'll + me i get a reputation point and if - me i'll loose one so its easy to get some and at the same time can easily loose aswell, you just need some dedication and hard work and you'll be cruising so best of luck for your reputation and dont be sad.

Congratulations for having a star. I think 5 is just not so bad to you. I had a 6 only when I got my star. Your number will go up until 10 if you respond all the discussions with qulity and useful content and obtain many rating+ from members. For an encouragement I will rate you with a + now.

I got my star when I completed my 100 posts. I got a red star with number 9 in it. But I have seen mnay who has more than 500 posts, still in star with number 6, 7, 8 (less than me) and many who have crossed 1000 posts with star number 10? And what this color of the star denotes? I used to rate almost all discussions/comments I read.
