It is common among mulims community out here. The advantages of circumcision are, it eases the penetration and helps in keeping the private part hygiene.

i thought circumcision is only common among christians....yes its hygeinic, smegma is not retained...but no difference in penetration...

Circumcision is one tradition here every summer season specially to provinces young boys are to be circumcise
they even got it free from medical missions here.
Hygine is one advantage of it, even new born child for some other countries they circumcise the baby to prevent some infection in the urinary tract.
i never heard any disadvantage so far on that.

yes it is a tradition since time immemorial....they need to be circumcized bec if not one day they will the the center of bad jokes....cleanliness still is the number one prevention of any infection not only urinary tract infection....even u are not circumcized if u keep yourself always clean u won't get infected.....disadvantage is painful after the effect of anethesia ..

i would like to comment on eden's remarks .... in the philippines the uncircumcized are the center of bad jokes not the lame, the deaf, the distorted face etcccccccccc

It's acceptable & reasonable to mutilate a child's body because someday someone may tease him over something? What if the child had big ears, or a funny shaped nose? Would you suggest they have cosmetic surgery to look more acceptable? What message is that sending to children?

God commanded Abraham to be circumcised when he was 99 yrs old and Ishmael, 13 yrs old, and all the people in Abraham's house. Then God commanded all the Israelites to be circumcised on the 8th day from birth. Circumcision then was the mark or a sign that a person is an Israelite, God's chosen people. That was why people were classified as the circumcision and the uncircumcision or the Gentiles. There is no reference to health advantages in the Holy Bible. In the New Testament, we read circumcision of the flesh referring to the Israelites and circumcision of the heart which means faith.

In the US circumcision is very common; probably 80-90% of boys are circumcised. Circumcision is know to reduce or eliminate: p e n i s cancer, cervical cancer, STD and AIDs transmission, and bacterial and yeast infections of both the p e n i s and the urinary track. It is a bit safer if your partner has been circumcised.

The rate is a little less than 60%, it was on wikipedia, just go to http://www.wikipedia.org and search for circumcision
There are so much information from both sides and I would suggest to any parent to allow their child decide because it is his body. :)

from the data that u gave maybe US advocates circumcision because of the research done among circumcized and uncircumcized males...who gonna questions the research work or the survey from actual experienced males....if not good, then no one would like to be circumcized...
