yesterday night I went to some party there I had prawns. And after some time I had some type of sensation on my lips. When I reached home I was not able to breathe properly and my whole face was swollen very badly. I mother immediately gave me an anti allergic medicine but there was n positive result. Then at around 2:30 at night my dad took me to the doctor. That doctor gave me an intravenous injection and he asked me to go back to home and just sleep. The next morning I woke up I was fine but with a little swelling in my eyes and it also went away after few hours. You know it was a dreadful experience for not only me but for my whole family. Does anybody of you have any such experience?

I'm allergic to iodine. This means I can't eat shellfish that naturally have iodine in them. Seafood which are red or pink before they are cooked is a good indicator of this. You can become allergic to things at anytime during your life even if you weren't before. You might want to see a doctor about having some test done to find out what you're really allergic to. I never had such a severe reaction to the shellfish. Usually just some swelling in my lips and itching in my throat, ears and eyes. I never ate more then a bite before I felt the reaction and then I'd know. But once a long time ago, my stepmother put some iodine in some baby oil and poured it in a sun tanning lotion bottle and I ended up with huge welts all over my body. Better safe then sorry!!! You should find out. You never know, it could be something other then the prawns.

I have heard of many people that have a shellfish allergy. You should be careful, because usually it isn't just one type of shellfish, such as the prawns, but all shellfish. It can be deadly if not treated. You are lucky that you didn't have more problems. It's a good thing you went to the doctor. I am glad you are feeling better.
