Do you prefer swimming over, let's say, running or biking?

I do. Swimming is, to me at least, more relaxing and I can clear my mind. I can basically drift off into auto pilot. When running or biking, I have to pay attention to what and who is around me. I don't know if I'm biased about the subject, but I used to swim competitively and so did my father, so I was really raised on it. What do you think? What's the one form of cardio you like the best?

I prefer swimming to just about anything, because I love the water and I love the sun and being outdoors. I was fortunate enough 3 yrs ago, to be working for a friend of mine, most of my work was done on my laptop.....so, me and my laptop spent most everyday by the pool. It was in Texas, soooo best place to be in the summer! lol I also lived on the coast of Texas for 20 years, and love the beach! But now I live in the Northeast, I still swim when I get the chance, but walking everyday as for the most part taken it's place.

I like running--mainly because I swam competitively growing up. However, swimming is a great way to get away from everything. I prefer to swim in a lane by myself and just speed up when I'm trying to work out anger, and slow down when I'm trying to relax.

I do, I love swimming, and yeas, I would chose it over running or biking anytime. I don't know, there's just something about swimming that entices me. Maybe it's the way my body glides with the water, maybe it's the peacefulness I feel when I'm swimming. Whatever it is, it really makes swimming more enjoyable.

I prefer swimming over running or biking any day. It's so relaxing and fun to me. I would choose swimming over anything except horses. During the summer I do both but during the winter I just ride.

I definitely prefer swimming over other cardio activities. Do you find it difficult when you haven't done it in a while? I'm always amazed at how sore my muscles become and how tired I become when I've slacked off. It really does require quite a lot of endurance. Plus swimming is great because it's the only exercise that doesn't put pressure on your joints and take its toll later in life. My dad who is 50 is in amazing swimming shape and can beat guys 20 years younger than him in the pool. I also agree that swimming is much more relaxing. The nice cool feeling of water all around you and being able to fluidly move your body through it. Doesn't really compare to anything else.
