Do You Have a Neat or Messy Desk?

Right now I am staring at my desk which is in desperate need of a cleaning. I have piles of papers so high I almost cannot see my computer screen. I clean it out every two weeks or so, but it just seems to pile up with all kinds of mailings. How about you..is your desk messy or neat? Does the clutter bother you enough to do something about it or do you just push it aside? Are you a neatnick who always has to have an orderly desk?

Take it lightly wachit. It only means you've got plenty of work for not even having a spare time to reorganize your a bit messy desk. If it merely annoys you, I suggest you allot time to organize your stuff over there. As for me, I ensure that my desk is neat as far as I am concern. I don't know if my officemates sees it the way I see it..hehe.

As much as possible I keep everything clean at home. It's not because I really care about them being neat and clean, it's because my husband would react and say, "What else are you doing here at home that cleaning all these mess is not within your schedule?" He's the clean type. He even cleans his shoes at night after a day's work. He is an O.C. when it comes to cleanliness. When our kids clothes looks a big mess he'll comment on that and say, "Why is your mom allowing you to wear that mess?" Well, it's not a point of argument to us. We already talked about it and now I make sure to have everything neat and clean. It also feels good to live in a this kind of environment.

Clutter bothers me. But, I am by no means a neat freak. My clutter is usually stuff that needs read or filed. But it is in stacks off to the side.

Right now, the only thing on my desk is my keyboard, my drink, and a pen LOL. Some days I can't see the desk for bits and pieces everywhere, but for once I tidied it up and it's lasted for over an hour. *Go me!* I prefer a tidy desk to a messy one, but some days it's just not possible, especially with three kids that are learning to use the internet for help with their homework - closely monitored by me of course!

I would say that my desk is quite tidy. There is a place for everything and it doesn't get changed that often. I like to keep things neat and organised. ^^

As soon as I find my desk I'll tell you whether it's neat or messy. LOL I guess it's pretty messy if I can't find it. I'm glad I have a laptop computer, because I haven't seen my desk in years! LOL My boyfriend and I both have extremely messy desks.

Thanks for my first laugh of the day. I'll tell you, when my desk gets too messy, I grab my laptop and move to another room. Now that's lazy! Thanks for your response.

I am a neat FREAK and keep everything on my desk very neat and orderly. I either have a standup file and put all loose papers in a labeled folder, pens are in their holder and I like nothing else on the desk, I like it clean with all papers where they belong.

I feel like a complete slob now that I've read this. LOL! I'm a very organized person usually, until this wole desk thing came up. I had to clean it off today because there were so many financial aid forms and notebooks, pens, bills, etc. laying around here that it basically bugged me into doing it. I keep everything else fairly neat but when it comes to my desk for some reason I seem to let that slide until I can't stand it anymore. Then and it seems only then do I clean it up.

Financial Aid? Boy, does that sound familiar. You either have a kid in college or one who is on their way. I'm right there with you. Between the college applications and the SAT scores, I am literally inundated. The forms have made it to the floor now because there is no longer room on my desk. Thanks for sharing.

Oh my gosh. Financial aid. I just now finished sending out verification forms for my daughter's financial aid. I have tried to explain to people how long and drawn out the process is, but they just don't get it. Getting financial aid is work. My home office is a mess right now. But I do have a special drawer just for the financial aid stuff.

My desk? Oh I have a desk! It must be somewhere underneath the piles of books, papers, magazines, cd's, gadgets, and whatnots.

I'm pretty neat. I like things put in their place. Although I do have one small pile of papers that I need to go through. But basically I try to put things where they belong so I don't end up with a big mess. Some days it's easier than others!

I am admittedly obsessive-compulsive. I cannot work if things are not in order. I have folders labeled with things like, "To Do" and "For Signature" and "Pending", etc. I have an incoming and outgoing tray which really helps me a lot in managing my work load. Everyday the first thing I do is check my inbox tray then I put whatever things I find there in the labeled folders. Then I list dow the things that i need to get done for the day so that I can be sure that I won't miss anything. i cannot imagine working with a pile of documents in front of me. I would not be able to perform a single thing if that happens.

My desk is small and neat. I need to go through the stuff on my upper shelf though...there are some things there I can probably get rid of. I am a neat freak and I can't work in a messy environment...

Right now, my desk is a mess. I don't have time to clean it up. Although, it takes just a few minutes. When I have time tomorrow, I'll clean it up. Yes, I wanna have a neat desk, if possible. The busy schedule at work is just killing me.

yeah my computer desk was never clean and thats because my stupid bro used to sit on it the whole time and he never used to take charge of it. The computer table used to look all messed up all through the year.Man i cant forget those days.Yuck! The desk used to look sick and my computer used to be loaded with viruses. But lately i felt the time for changes and took responsibly over the desk and also the computer. Everything's tidy and clean and the very look of it puts a smile on my face.I'm gonna be taking charge over it atleast for around 5 months till i move over.I even set a title for myself called the Admin cuz i take over the desk and the computer. All those things that really don't belong to the desk go straight to the trash can.Yeah i strong with my rules. They gotta keep to it or else they're sure gonna loose their stuff.lol.

My desk is usually a disaster area, no matter what I do. I clean it up and get it all neat and organized, with the best intentions of keeping it clean, and within a week it's a disaster again. I can usually find what I'm looking for in the mess; I seem to know which stack to look in. But I'm on the board of directors for a youth sports organization, and we're getting ready for registration. Most of the mess has to do with all the various tasks I do for the group. The other part of the mess is all stuff my kids hand me during a day. They give me all the electronics remotes, their DVDs, stuff from school, stuff they don't know what to do with, etc. It drives me nuts! While I -wish- I could always have a nice, neat desk (and more room to work), I guess I just live with my cycle of 'mess until I can't stand it, then clean like crazy'.

Mine is absolutly hideous right now. If I wasnt so embarassed I would take a picture and show you! There are reciepts, coupons, papers, and just random JUNK all over it. My living room is almost spotless, then I have this disaster in the corner!
