Every nation's economy could easily be reflected by it's available employment to the people. Here in my country, OFWs (overseas Filipino workers) are much valued that they are called as national heroes because of the amount of dollars and other foreign currency they bring into the country. However, most international employers or agencies would call for domestic helpers or maids, as if it's all what we can do, be house srevants and get killed. That's about the worst possible danger for there are other people out there who mistreat their household help. One good example of this was the late Flor Contemplacion who was beaten and drowned by her employer in Singapore years ago. The sad thing about this is that she reluctantly left her family hoping that she would be able to help with the finances, and to go abroad was the only thing she could think of. Instead she gets mistreated and killed for it. Just how many more of my country men will be exposed to this danger just for the sake of their families survival?
