Manga and Comic

What's the different between manga and comic? why we just don't call manga as comic? As far as i can see, comic from japan or korea are called manga. Well, that's how i see it but maybe i'm wrong since i also have seen comic from other places called manga. So there must be some criteria to differentiate manga and comic. Right?? Maybe someone can tell me why?
