We just put the trampoline out for the season. Do you have one?

I got one for my boys a couple of years ago, so this will be our third trampoline season. We always leave it out as long as possible, and get it back out again as early as possible. The second season we had the tramp, I dug an enormous hole, removed the middle section of the trampoline's legs, and then put the trampoline in the pit so the part you jump on is level with the lawn. It is a lot safer, and no one has been hurt yet. Do you have a trapoline? Was safety a factor in whether or not you purchased one? Have you ever had an accident? I'm also wondering if anyone else has sunk their trampoline to ground level like we have, and if you leave it out all year?

They really are a blast and super good for you. Have fun when you get yours, and if you dig out a pit, make sure you make the very middle of it about 4 feet deep.

They really do love it, and for that matter, so do all the adults who visit!

We actually leave ours out all year long. It is such a pain in the butt to put together, there would be no way I would be able to get my partner out there once a year to assemble and disassemble it. LOL So we get to watch it fill with dry leaves and then sweep them up. hehe And then winter we get to watch the snow collect on it and sometime large icicles hang from the middle of it. :) We have not dug a hole. There is no way my partner would be happy about that large of a hold in the yard! But safety was a issue with me when we got the trampoline! No child was allowed on the trampoline until we purchased and installed the enclosure netting. This prevents them from flying off!!! :) And I have already seen it prevent my partner from flying off too!!! LOL

Prevent your partner from flying off, lol, that is something that I would like to see at my own house. The kids love for us to get on with them because when WE double bounce THEM, they can reach crazy heights and they love it!

We never did get a trampoline for our children. The yard at our first house wasn't large enough and at the second house, the yard was large enough but we put a swimming pool in instead! They did however love jumping on a neighbor's trampoline. I really find the hole idea fascinating. I admire your diligence in digging it! There are a lot of accident reports, but I honestly feel most accidents could be prevented by enforcing safety measures such as not allowing too many children on the trampoline at once, not allowing double bounces and such. Trampolines provide awesome exercise and we really do need to be encouraging children to get out and exercise more!

I am buying a trampolene for next summer. This summer is a no go because my husband is deploying and we wont be staying at home. A far as safety I am slightly concerned, but my oldest jumps on a neighbor friends one, and no one has been hurt. I am purchasing the enclosure (net) with the trampolene though, as I think that is a big help.

I think it really helps to enfoprce how many kids are on it at once, even when you have the big tramps. Double bouncing and collisions are much more dangerous we've found than coming off of it.

I had a trampoline all my life that my Dad put together, but we recently removed it. I didn't have any say in it :( Anyway, I don't know if having a trampoline closer to the lawn would be much safer. I mean, you're unlikely to do TOO much damage as long as the area is surrounded with grass. And wouldn't your feet touch the ground as you jumped if it were closer to the ground? Anyway, I had one accident - I fell over and smashed my neck/chin on the outside bar of the trampoline, but thats one accident in the many years we had it.

Our is surrounded by grass, but it is the granite walls and benches that are nearby that worried me. I know they can shoot off at odd angles, but fortunately, they have yet to actually land off the trampoline. Nah, the hole is so deep that the net goes down into it and we don't hit the ground. The thing we have to worry about is that the dog isn't under the tramp trying to retreve one of his balls that have rolled under. We've squashed him a couple of times! Even better than the safety issue, which was a big part of the reason for sinking it, I like the fact that it is no longer a big old eyesore dominating the bottom of the garden.

My daughter wants one for her birthday. I am thinking on it. she also wants a color TV for her room as hers is B&W. I am not sure. Our land is hilly and I am not to sure if we have a good place to set it up. Sinking it some sounds like it may concur our leveling problem though.

Our rental house (will buy soon we hope!) came with one of those HUGE ones in the backyard. We love to jump but not very often cause its hard to get on and off plus its tiring in general. Hello exercise! :)) But yeah we do have one, and enjoy that chance to go on it. Now my dog doesnt like it... *L* we have put her on there she clings to it or you. We dont do that much or she will get sick (easy upset tummy) and I have some cute cute pictures of her own it though :)) Ah! Yeah yeah we love the big trampoline.d When I was a kid, I always sprained my ankle it seemed at least 4 different times one side. One time I was on our way smaller (the small kind) trampoline and I twisted my ankle going off the side. OUCH that was NOT fun! :(( At least our big one came with one of those nets around it. Kudos! :))

Are you all a gymnast family? I haven't tried the trampoline before - wouldn't want to break my neck. I have difficulty even doing a somersault - much to the disgust of my gymnastic teacher in school. :P
