World's most stupid man?

A man in Saudi Arabia recently was assaulted by his 2 wives. The attack was prompted by the man threatening to marry a third wife.
He ended up needing 7 stitches.
After the attack the man said he would now be forced to take a 3rd wife just to maintain his dignity!
So, how many stitches do you suppose he'll need after 3 wives gang up on him?

Yes, I especially was unimpressed with his remark that now to restore his dignity he really would have to take a third wife.
As alluded to by coffeechat, can you imagine the punishment "to restore his dignity" this guy will probably dish out to these women?
You're right, there's just not much more to say about such stupidity.

It is true that Islam permits men to marry upto 4 wives.
The women who assaulted were probably very frustrated and foolhardy, because under Sharia law they are entitled to the harshest of punishments. In a court case, even if the two of them testified against the husband, his testimony would prevail.
I think the world should watch the case very carefully, because the disposition of this case will become a new watershed in women's rights in Islamic societies.
To digress a bit,you might be impressed about another Koranic institution of Mut'a. This is a temporary marriage contracted for a specific period of time. It is also translated as a "marriage of pleasure"(Koran 4:24)
With all these Koranic justifications, and the support of the Sharia system, the man will have the ability to punish or even divorce these women with impunity and contract anywhere upto four marriages, including perhaps contractual marriagies.
There is no shortage of women in Saudi Arabia. Poor Pakistani, Egyptian and other islamic societies sell their daughters to rich Saudis for the Mehr (bride price) and the Saudi men continue their "peaceful" "respectful of women" Islamic lives.

The problem here in the USA is that all news reporting is so PC that the disposition of this case probably would not be reported by the main stream media.
The truth is loath to be reported when it is contradictory to a previously established myth started by the mainstream media. In this case the myth is that Islam is a religion of peace with a special respect for human rights and women in particular.
Most news sources here in the USA just do not want to be seen as reporting anything that could be construed as "hateful", "mean-spirited", or "encouraging disrespect" even when what is being reported is completely true.
So, even though these women are facing possible very grave consequences,just as you say, we in the USA probably will never hear about it.
This is a sad case all around when you think about it. Perhaps, I should not have made fun of it.

Thank-you. I will do that. If you should see a follow up to this story, please post about it on the chance I have not seen it, yet.
This brings up the great thing about the internet. It is educating and informing the world. There may actually come a day when it is very difficult to get away with some of the things people do today.
Imagine, we might actually really achieve a better world through technology.

I did not realize that Islamic men in Saudi Arabia could have up to 4 wives! You would think there would be more rights for women if the women out-number the men! I wanted to say "You go girl!" Yes...the man has a screw loose! Maintain his dignity? That is certainly a good reason to marry another woman!

You have touched on to one of the problems with polygamy.
The women do not outnumber the men. Their society is about 50/50 men and women just like everybody else. This leaves some without any wives.
These unattached men are good candidates to become radicalized Muslims. Any man without a good woman in his life is going to be unhappy and a much more likely candidate for getting into trouble.
This is an unpopular but simple truth. The Muslim way of life that includes polygamy increases the likelyhood of violence. Muhammad was very wrong to approve of multiple wives.

I cant see how any man in any society woudl want more than one wife. One is more than enuff handful for me. I remember a few years ago about some guy (mormon I think) who was married to like 5 women here in the states. I cant imagine what it would be like to put up with 5 women when that time of the month rolls around. Thats not woman bashing thats the honost truth. Its bad enuff having a teenage daughter and 1 wife but 3-5 that is just plain crazy.

Evanhunter- It is fotunate that provisions for the "1 man, 1 woman" theme was inforced into our society, as most men even have difficulty caring for the one that loves them. They become to preoccupied with the "power play" games in the relationship to enjoy a co- responsible one. Mind you this is in no way saying that all women are saints either!!
coffee- you are not far off the mark with your conclusions,
and in my personal view it is sad to think of the agony that confronts the Islamic woman in times to come, as the degree of their repression is indeed great!

Women in western societies have only now begun to have the right of self-determination - okay in the last twenty years or so. Which is probably they sound "lippy" compared to say women in the 'fifties and sixties.
But women in the Islamic world are at least a hundred years behind our times - and so are their laws (probably 400 years behind).
If the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia decides to make an example out of these women and repress them harshly - they still cannot stop the tide of information that heavily repressed Islamic women have.
The House of Saud should take this as a wake up call, rather than put their JerryBooted arab foot down on these women. Alas! that is probably what they will do.

This man got beat up by his two wives for threating to marry a third wife? Wow I guess the wives have had enough of his threats or mistratment and stood up for themselves. I do worry about what will happen to them now though, will they be punished or worse. I do not understand this culture nor do I know very much about it. It is interesting because I wonder where the women found the courage to go against the husband in a culture that is so hard on women to begin with. Now he wants the thrid wife anyway? geesh you think he would have gotten the hint the other two did not think that was a good idea. I love your comment on this too. I guess he will need thirty seven stiches when all three beat him up.. I hope I win.

The best explanation I've read about Islamic culture is that it is stuck in the 7th century, the time of Muhammad. This just barely helps me to understand it a little, but that's the best I can do.

In Moslem societies the number of wives determines to some extent a man's social status. Ditto the number of children.
There is an "affordability" and "equitableness" provision in the Moslem holy texts (sic!) but that is the basis of it all.
The Sharia - (Muslim law) essentially denigrates and suppresses womens rights on the one hand (while providing lip service to the glory of women on the other).
Beating a woman is legal in Islam.
If a raped woman cannot produces 4 Muslim men to testify that she had been raped then she is CONVICTED for fornication or adultery if she is married. Punishment may range from Lashes (not eye lashes - the real horrible scourge) to Stoning (not mari*uana)!
