Do you clean the toilet seat before using it, in a public bathroom??

I'm just curious as to how many people actually take the time to clean the toilet seat before using the bathroom. I have a nice little routine when I enter a washroom. I first take a bunch of toilet paper and wipe down the seat. I want to make sure that I get any access urine that has dripped or water that has sprayed when the toilet was flushed. Once I am satisfied with the seat, then I put either one of those paper seat covers or a layer of toilet paper around the seat. Then, I am able to get down to business! Does anyone else do things like this? Do you even look at the toilet before sitting down? Or am I just completely nuts??

This is not nuts at all. I try my best not to use public toilet at all, in the first place. I manage to time my need to go to washroom in the hours when i am home so that i don't need to use public washroom in university. it only happened two times in last two years that i had to use that washroom for passing stool. My practice has been to use toilet paper to first wipe all the seat for any possible droplet of anything, then i lay two layers of toilet paper on the seat before using it. after using and flushing i wash my hands with liquid soap and dry them with air dryer and use a tissue paper to hold the handle of the door at exit from toilet.

I carry wet ones antibacterial wipes in my purse and hand sanitizer. I use a wipe to wipe down the seat then put one of those paper rings down if they are available. I wash my hands and use a paper towel to open the door. You would be suprised how many women don't wash their hands after using a public restroom. It's gross.

Believe me, I know about woman not washing their hands. To me, that has to be one of the grossest things in the world. That was going to be my next discussion topic. :) It amazes me how people can do that and not realize the health issues that are there. NUTS!

I saw a program once on cable where they set up cameras in a ladies room and a men's room to see how many people washed their hands. Suprisingly more men wash their hands after using the bathroom than women do. The most suprising thing was that the more affluent the woman appeared, the less likely she was to wash her hands. The study said that the more affluent a woman appears the more likely she is to have on very expensive, dry clean only clothing, an expensive watch and jewelry, and almost always has her nails done. These women will almost always skip washing their hands in order to not ruin their clothes, jewelry or nails. See, I would have thought that the more affluent looking people would wash their hands more often as they tend to have completely spotless houses and such. But then the people conducting the study pointed out that the affluent do not clean their own homes, they hire people to do it, so it is not actually their own cleaning habits that we see, but those of the hired help. Also, in a poll that was conducted on toilet seats, public restrooms as the dirtiest places, but again the more affluent women don't even think about sitting on the toilet seat. Yuck! BTW, if you put your purse on teh floor of a public restroom, and lots of women do, you carry around all those nasty germs with you and then some women put their purses on their dining room tables when they get home. It really gives you something to think about. I try not to watch too much of that kind of tv as I am afraid I might become a germaphobe.

I grab a paper towel before entering the stool area. I wipe it down with the damp towel. Then I place 2 layers of toilet paper or the donuts provided on the seat. Then I feel somewhat comfortable. There's so much gunk around now days. Can never be too safe I say. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Might sound odd racheld, but I try my best not to use public toilet. If I'm forced to use the toilet in a public restroom I do like you, I use wet paper towels to clean it and then dry it good. I also carry wetwipes in my purse and clean off grocery carts before I use them. Can you imagine the 'gunk' on those things?
