Apparently the coyotes are plentiful in some areas of NewJersey. They are spotted often and getting more brazen.
In the backyard while playing a little boy was attacked. The animal even came at the father..It was finally scared off.
Why are we hearing about animal attacks in inhabited areas that we have always thought of as safe?Coyotes in NJ,cougars in Ca..
Any ideas?

Now this is really terrible how this happened. I do not know why these animals are coming so close to where people live maybe they are after some food and cannot find much where they normally live. I know where I live that a lot of wild animals can come out due to the fires that we have had and also due to the trees being cut down in their enviroment.

Reminds me of a funny thing. We had left the cellar door open and a baby squirrel came in and up the stairs to the kitchen when the cats and dogs noticed him...Well it was a race to the finish for me to catch him before a cat or dog.I finally caught him in the shower in a big bath towel and got him outside.I still have the holes in my towel to prove it...So watch out for those vicious squirrels..lol

That is horrible! In my small town, which is beside a river, we have had a lot of domestic cats to disappear recently. (two from my neighborhood) The local animal shelter has told us that there are three families of cougars that have come out of the mountains and are going down to the river. One neighborhood has reported 50 cats missing. Luckily no children have been harmed. It is really frightning.

You are going to see a lot more of this. I dont mean that man keeps incrouching on their domain. Which is a small part of the proglem. The biggest problems is that animal populations are allowed to get too big. This allows more predetors to live and grown. If the hunted animal populations drop, then the predetors get very hunger. They will go after any warm piece of meat. In time we will see a lot more predetor attacks on humans.
