Feelings on Humane Society

So today in Detroit, animal control captured a coyote. Common sense says to take the thing and release it back into the wild. Humane Society's solution: euthanization. You could tell the reporters who announced it weren't exactly happy with it. Seems like a waste. The story about the coyote hit a personal note. My sister had a pet mallard duck. Raised it from the time it was a few weeks old. It had angel wing, which is essentially a handicapped wing. The feathers grow out wrong, and it prevents flight. We had hoped the Humane Society could give us tips for caring for it over the winter. They said there was a preserve that the duck could be released into, so we left the duck there with them. My mom took it some food the next day, only to find out that they had lied about the whole thing and the duck had been euthanized that morning. So, as you can probably tell, I have serious issues with the Humane Society. Anyone else have thoughts to share on the subject?

The story about the duck is sad. As for the coyote. That in my opinion was a necessity. A coyote that learns to habitate in that close of a proximity to humans can be very dangerous. As far as relocation goes they often find their way back and bring others.

The thing was obviously lost, and it's not like Michigan is suffering from a shortage of places that the animal could have been released into. I just don't see why they're so quick to kill things.
