I think we all have people, usually celebrities who we admired and maybe have inspired us, since maybe many times these people had a rather rough journey to get where they are today...and maybe they have somehow become a mentor to us. One person I admire, and have read a lot of her books has been Julia Cameron..I frist read her book The Artist's way and it inspired me to get my life back on track again and go back to my creative muses. My family was never gung-ho about my wanting to pursue the artistic world and actually made me feel guilty...but that is why Ms. Cameron's books were so enlightening to me...They made me realize that I can't HELP being an artistic person...it's who I am..so now I'm going after my dreams once more after far too many years of neglect. Then an absolute winner I think in this category would be Oprah Winfrey---one can't help BUT admire a woman like that, especially with all the trauma she endured in her past...and now she is one of the most successful people in the world..not to mention the richest. It's like if she can overcome obstacles in life, anyone can .

Right now I can only really think of my best friends. Steph sings, plays the guitar a little..draws, writes lyrics. Jay plays the guitar, can sing like an angel, his art which is paintings, drawings and music..are fantastic heh..and Jess is a grammer whiz, she can sing too..and draws cutelittle things -- but she'd murder anyone who calls anything she draws 'cute' *laughs* But it's not so much their many talents, but their way of thinkng about things. How much they've gone through and somehow dealt with it, come out stronger. They keep me goin', sane, creating, motivated. What right do I have to fail? You know? After they've tried so hard and not yet made it..so I keep on trying hard for my dreams, whilst keeping them in mind. 'Cause besides me, they're what it's all for. The reason. The why.

Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall. strange man, a little bit posh with too much hair. he was a food journalist that got into TV, and his outlook on food, I think is amazing. one programme was A Cook on the Wildside, which involved a lot of wild food, and more recently the River Cottage programmes. he took on a smallholding in Dorset, and grew his own veg, raised his own animals and got really involved with the rest of the community and their different food productions. I love this programme. it makes me feel all warm inside. but what is most inspiring is his outlook on food being ethical, free range, organic, locally produced, sustainable etc. it really makes you think about how the food gets to your plate, and how your choices affect the food industry. and Dita Von Teese. she's so beautiful,

I confess ingnorance as I've never heard of Hugh Fearneley-Whittingstall...but that idea ..."...of food being ethical, free range, organic,...etc" to quote you I really wish was the reality...if people knew how some of their food winds up on their plate they'd probably never eat it...Since we are no longer hunters and gatherers the average person just simply goes to the market and looks at all that nicely wrapped up meat, etc...the produce and never knows what goes on the behind the scenes --even how much of the fruits and vegetables are grown can make a person sick---most of the food (fruits and veggies) aren't even grown here in the US..but in countreis were they still use pesticides that are banned. Is it no wonder our immunee systems are going kaput?

I really will have to try and find that book! I did start a discussion about the food production "industry"...I had just seen some videos on the PETA website how our meat is raised...in the sections called "Meet your meat"---and I swear now I'm leaning more toward a veggie type diet...I haven't exactly been living in a cave all these years, but I had no idea that that was what went on in the mass produced food industry...Since I live in the city--near NY in the borough of Queens, our food DOES come from the mass production line...it is different if you live in a town or country environment since you are probably consuming locally raised meats and produce....oh, and then when I saw about how chickens were raised for Kentucky Fried Chicken--not that I go or eat fast foods. I had pointed out in my discussion that most people AREN'T aware of how that nice juicy steak gets on one's plate..and I agree with you...if more people did make an intelligent descision about their food purchases and demand more humanely raised animal foods it could very well make for stifer regualtions and more humae ways of raising animals for food in the food industry. Very good points in your response ;-)

Sylvia Browne - The internationally famous psychic, author, and teacher : Sylvia Browne
Well I guess I'm going to sound like a broken record - but I just can't help it. Sylvia Browne has inspired me to become more spiritual, be comfortable with myself, with the Mother & Father Gods, with my family, the purpose of this hell we call life, and well pretty much everything. I feel that I am the person I am to day because of her. There are other very admirable woman too - like Oprah Winfrey for instance. She has come a really long way - and she does help so many people. And for the life of me (probably because it's past my bed time LOL) I can't think of anyone else.
