Have you attended a class reunion or do you shy away?

Since you graduated from high school has your life just changed so much that you have no interest in attending reunions with your class or are you one of those that can hardly wait to see the people you went through school with and shared so many of those fun high school times with? Have you moved far away and just don't want to make the trip...or gained a little weight and don't want to share the new you? Would you take your spouse/partner with you if you attended or would you want to go alone so you could feel more free to "mingle" and rehash the events you participated in? Would you be getting in shape months in advance to present a well toned body to the old crowd or going as you are today..knowing that your personality will always carry you through? Have you ever attended a reunion of your class...or missed them on a regular basis because you are out of high school and over it...? How do you feel about them..or if you aren't old enought to have had a reunion yet what are your thoughts for the future of your reunions?

Oh I would of loved to attend a high school reunion and see my old mates but I have not heard of doing one for many years now some places they still hold them but I do not know why the one I went to does not do this or has not done it yet. It would be wonderful to see other old mates that I had and to see how their lives have developed for them.

I went to my 5 year class reunion for high school, and pretty much nobody had changed at all. I was going to go to my 10 year reunion this past summer, but I was on bed rest with a difficult pregnancy with my son, so I wasn't able to attend. But someone sent me some pictures, and from the looks of things, nobody I would have wanted to see was there anyway. I ended up getting together with a handful of friends a couple of months later. And we had a wonderful time. I honestly think that was better than attending the reunion. I got to see people that I wanted to catch up with instead of making nice with people I didn't care for ten years ago, and probably have even less in common with now.

I didn't go to my 10 year as I was out of town..but my 20 was the most fun ..people had dropped their little attitudes if they had them and just wanted to be social and enjoy each other..it was the most fun!!! But I applaud you for getting together with your selected mates and really enjoying each other...hope that pregnancey turned out well!!!!My daughter has had 2 very difficult ones and now the doctor says no more..so they are in the process of adopting!!!

I went to one class reunion and to be honest I so am not into that stuff. The same people you disliked in school are pretty much the same people you would dislike in adulthood. Many feel the need to give you their synopsis of how wonderful their life is or you get the other extreme of someone that spends the entire time chewing your ear off telling you how horrible life is for them. LOL Personally, anyone I've wanted to stay in touch with I have, for the most part. There are a few that I'd like to see again but oh well.

I happen to be in a good situation with my reunion...alot of us still sort of keep in touch loosely through each other..so we are excited about getting together...you are so right about how some will go to either extreme to keep your attention..that's when I usually have to go to the bathroom and never seem to find them again!!! LOL..that was a mean thing for me to say!!! I'll be honest ..one of the biggest draws for my class reunion is this great hamburger place that has been there forever...It's my once every 10 years huge greasy yummy hamburger!!!! How about that for a reason to travel 200 miles and endure all the insecure and overly confident folks that might attend...but mostly it will be good fun and then there's that hamburger!!!LOL

I have missed a reunioun but not because I didnt want to go. I really wait for reunions. I feel so excited and happy when I see my old pals. It makes me feel so nostalgic. I try to meet up with my friends whenever I can but its impossible to get everyone together. In a reunion you can see everyone. Spend time with your old pals. There is no feeling better than it. There will be lot of secrets unfolded that time, its really fun. True that everyone would want to present themselves in good shape when you go for a reunion but I dont think you should refrain from goin if you are not in one. Its more about the time that you spent. Its priceless you'll cherish those moments in your life forever. Mere words can never reflect the true happiness radiated in a reunion. I can hardly wait for my reunion coming up this christmas. Its gonna be fun and I will never miss it.

I am quite an anti-social so I am not really one for class reunions. But if people keep on harassing me, well.. why force an occasion when there is none? :P

My class seems to have carried on quite a tradtion of at least 80% attendance at the reunions...we were all very close and it is fun...one of my classmates feels as you do...and I tell him not to worry...just don't go..and don't bow to the pressure..if he thinks he wouldn't enjoy it he probably won't...no worries!!!

They had dated in high school and then lost touch until the reunion!!! It was a nice story!! They are still together and love to come to the reunion!!

I did attend my ten year reunion and am debating whether to attend my 20 year reunion next year. It felt a bit odd at my 10 year reunion as it seemed as if i was the only one not married or have a significant other in my life. I remembered many people from class back then but not all of them. I wonder if I will recognize them at the reunion next year.

I did not attend my 10th..but the 20th was really fun..it seemed everyone had lost their "labels" and their tendancy to hang out in the same groups...we had such a good time..I hope you do go...and I hope you have a wonderful time...although I didn't recognize some of the classmates right away..after talking to them and looking into their eyes, it's amazing how you see them as they were then...and their spirits seem to stay the same...although some were even better, having matured and lost some of the edges that may have made them seem "rough" in high school... All of mine have been good experiences...and I have just been to my 40th this past summer...!!!! AS to your comment about being the only one without a "partner"...by the 20th it seemed most everyone had been divorced and lots were without significant others...then by the 30th most were paired up again...it's weird to revisit some of the relationships that have gone the full circle and are back to the high school couples!! Enjoy if you go...go without any preconceived ideas and just be yourself...you'll have a good time!!

My wife and I will be going to my high school reunion in July of 2009. I am in the unusual group of folks that went to two different schools. I was born in Rhode Island and actually graduated there. I went to school in The Upper Peninsula of Michigan from the very beginning all the way into my junior year, at which time we went back to Rhode Island, where I graduated. My friends all seem to be in the class I should have graduated with, but didn't. My wife, on the other hand, graduated from high school as one of the members of a class that was bigger than either of the schools I attended. She didn't even know most of the people she graduated with. When we were getting ready to go to our first reunion together she was concerned that she wouldn't fit in with the group. I told her that all she had to do was "Just be yourself, and you will be just fine." I introduced her to a few of the ladies, with instructions to them to just continue the introductions, please. In a short time she came up to me and said "You're right, I think I know the life story of almost everyone I've met, tonight." Now, she can't wait to go back. Thank you for starting such a great discussion.

I've never attended a class reunion, because I have been to so many different schools in my life (my father was in the army and we lived in lots of different countries during my school years), so it would be an impossible task.

I have attended once but It was long time ago, I remember it very well because I ma one of the organizer. We never had a reunion since then, It's quite sad because I would love to see my classmates, would love to hear from them and have chats with them, It doesn't bother me if I gained weight or I aged too much or whatever. It's still lovely to attend a class reunion and see old faces again.
