Could I be pregnant?

My menstrual cycle was due on Friday. I have charted my cycle for well over a year now and my cycle length's average is 27 days, though it varies from time to time anywhere from 25-30 days. I used a home pregnancy test Monday morning but it was negative. It's the type of pregnancy test that can find out if I'm pregnant 5 days sooner, but there was not even a hint of a line. I've been a little more tired than usual, but other than that I don't feel any different, so I'm guessing the test is right, even though I haven't had my period yet. Should I test again in a few days if I don't have my period by then? Or should I be concerned that it might be something else?

My friend is pregnant now, she only realise it when her period is 1 month late. Just relax...

It's hard to relax when my husband wants me to be pregnant so badly. But I will certainly try. Thank you.

I know stress can cause your cycle to be off, but I don't know about by a whole week. The tests you take at home are the same ones they give you at a clinic or doc's office, so I would try another home test in a day or two if you still haven't started. I was only one day late and took two tests... both were a bright pink positive, but some women's bodies don't produce enough of the pregnancy hormones until a bit later. Have you been actively trying to conceive?

Yes, my husband and I have been actively ttc since before I miscarried back in Dec. 2005. But even more so after the miscarriage happened as it hit us a lot harder than we ever expected.

I would test again. It might have been too early. Your period would be late only if you were pregnant or you did not ovulate. If the pregnancy test is still negative I would go to your doctor and ask for a blood pregnancy test. If that is negative I would ask for meds to kickstart your cycle so you can try again.

Thank you for your response Dana. I'll try testing again this coming Monday if I don't start my cycle by then. My husband wants us to have another baby so badly, I'm afraid he is already getting his hopes up. I'd hate to dash it if it turns out I'm not pregnant after all.
