I will have to think twice..You want to know why? It is because nowadays there were mock beggars. There were syndicates that used old people and children to beg for money for them.I hated this!!Why do this happen? But, I do gave money to beggars that are handicapped. Pity them:( But I would not give money to someone that were not handicapped and healthy but just lazy to find a job and sit at the street waiting for us to give them..

i agree... and i admit, i once became a victim of this. One time, on our way home, me and my colleague was asked by an old lady for help. She told us her story, how her companion left her and took all her belongings. She can't go back to her province now cause she has nothing. She asked for money that she will use for transportation. We gave her, believing that she was telling the truth. And then she left. Two days after, i saw the same old lady, wearing the same set of clothes, near our building. I then realized that she wasn't lost at all! And we were fooled.... =(

i used to give money to them when i was kid. Then after i went to college, my friends told me to stop giving money to beggar, it made them lazy. Plus they are just hired by people who want to make fast money. Do you know that a beggar can make about $20 in a day (it's about 200.000 rupiahs at my country). That's a lot, how much they will make in a month ?. Wow, when i heard about this, i stopped giving them money. Only the handicapped that i gave. But sometimes, is it really true about those syndicates ?

Make an on spot judgment! I think we all share the guilt for the way we have structured the world denying subsistence to such large populations... it is to do with the kind of parties we vote for. 40 percent of the world population cannot have 2 times meal because development is structured that way. We take their livelihood away by installing mega dams and refineries on top of their subsistence agriculture. We deserve to suffer from guilt on meeting one of these in the eye in the city square! What an individual can do is to uphold right kind of political ideology which believes in ensuring equitable access to resources for all. Welfare of all. Join some movement which is working to achieve this.

of course. it has been my passion giving something to them..I pity them a lot and it breaks my heart seeing them in a situation like that..they somewhat make me realize that I should be thankful and contented because I can eat thrice a day, i can wear decent clothes and sleep in a safe shelter.
