PTR's - Waste of time :-(

I feel the PTRs are sheer waste of time.. There is some earning of course but if you quantify the amount of time spent on it will be huge and if you spend that time to something meaningful like taking up exams or certifications to enhance your knowledge, it will be a nice payoff. I think PTR's are not suited for working professionals. It may more suit for people at home and does not know how to spend the time. What is your take on this topic?
