Insomniacs, do you feel you could murder someone or something sometimes?

5 O'clock this morning I was still tossing and turning after going to bed at 11, then getting up, going back to bed, getting up at about 4.30 and going back again. I was getting so angry with myself, but when the birds started singing at about 4, I could quite happily have got a shotgun and killed them all lol! Luckily I sleep alone, but wondered how it was for other insomniacs, does your other half snore and keep you awake?

(( HUG )) I know that feeling hun, and a 12 gauge would be very handy some mornings. I didn't get much sleep last night either, and my stupid cat didn't help by jumping onto the bed and purring in my ear. I eventually gave up and got out of bed at around 5.30 am :-(

Aw thanks for the hug, that makes me feel a whole lot better! It's so annoying and I did think about staying up when I got up at 4.30 this morning, but my eyes were so tired, my cats like to jump on my head too, weird how they like to keep you awake lol! Thanks for your response and I might see you on here in the early hours lol!

I wondered if there was a link between my insomnia and sudden fits of rage. The house could be falling down and I'd be as cool as a cucumber but let something small and trivial go wrong and I am ready to drag out the baseball bat and beat something / someone.
I sleep alone 95% of the time (hehehehe) but if someone else is there and they start snoring, it better be after I pass out or fall asleep. OK, I completely lost track of where I was going with this :]
Birds don't bother me all that much un;ess they have started nesting in the eves of the house. Then is sounds like they are right in the room with me and then ... well, I start thinking about ways I can get rid of them and most of them aren't all that quick and painless lol.

Well done for getting your 10 star rating back again! Although your streaming ahead of me on postings again. Birds don't normally bother me either, I have my bed under the window though and had it open as I was getting so hot tossing and blimmin turning all night and when they started chirping it was like the icing on the blimmin cake! Thanks for your response!

If I can sleep , usually my brain won't lie down and everything that is worrying me seems 10 times worse , I get up and have a hot chocolate , if that doesn't help I get out the laptop and sign into My Lot , after a little while on My Lot my worries have all gone and I go back to sleep , I crawl in and out of bed so as not to disturb my lovely hubby xxx

Hi, I've tried loads of different things believe me to try and sleep, it's not as though I really have any worries at the moment so I know for sure it's not that. I did sign into mylot last night for an hour or so to do some postings, but it was a good hour after that before I managed to get some sleep! Thanks for your response!

I get really frustrated, when anything keeps me awake, or gets on my nerves when I'm having a hard time sleeping. I'm usually up late most nights, and some nights I just can't sleep at all. Period. No matter how hard I try. I was awake about 4AM one night and the birds outside of my window were chirping so loudly. I wanted to hurt them. I eventually got up and shut the window to minimize the noise which helped, but not completely. It was better than suffering. I wanted to 'kill' them regardless of me never doing it in real life.

It's annoying isn't it, and usually I love to hear the birds singing but when you are so desperate to get to sleep, even the sound of a moth would keep you awake! Hope yours sleeping gets better soon!

While I'm not an insomniac in the strictest sense of the word, I hardly sleep. I'm sort of a night owl and stay awake most of the night. I do feel sleepy towards the wee hours of the morning and would contentedly curl up if given an opportunity, but since I have my classes to attend in the morning, I really have to get out of my bed and take that shower to get me going. I really can't get sleep even if I try to, much earlier than three thirty. I sometimes work two or three straight nights and on the fourth, I would be so exhausted that I would automatically fall asleep even at 10 PM! When I'm asleep, I enjoy very sound sleep.

Hi, Thanks for your suggestion, I'm always reading books and sometimes that makes it worse! I think it's because my brain is really active and will focus on books i've just read, strange really! Thanks for your input!

I awoke this morning at 7am, after my nightmare and the only person I wanted to murder was my housemate, as it was he who featured in my nightmare. I do have trouble sleeping at the best of times and lately it has been worse, I do keep a suduko puzzle with me to help me sleep, I too sleep alone because I can't sleep with anyone, I'm too alert to the noises they make in the night.

Oh crikey, hope your housemate is ok! I think if I did sudoko puzzles, then that would wake me up, I do take books to bed, but sometimes I get stuck in that place between sleep and awake and my brain just goes into overdrive, it's quite difficult to explain - I just wish I had an on/off button on the side of my head! Thanks for your response!

Brightest Blessings my friend!

I think I have an occasional insomnia there are times that I feel so sleepy but I can't sleep, so tired but I really can't relax even if everything is ok... sometimes night becomes day to me. Well when it comes to killing someone .. I feel that always. even if I have a knife in my hand sometimes I think how does it feel to stub it into a flesh or into something smooth and nice to touch.
I guess my occasional insomnia and my dream of killing someone is not that connected but I feel two.

I am the same if I go to bed too early, that is why most nights I go around 2-3am. I have to feel exhausted and then, when my head hits the pillow I'm out like a light.
So I only get about 5 hours a night.
The pain is I often loose my Firday nights as I am really knackered by then.
Have you tried hypnosis tapes. I have one by Paul McKenna "Sleep Like A Log", it is brilliant. When I need an early night I put this on and I am gone in seconds. There are others that also get you to tense and relax all the muscles in your body while deep breathing, these are very relaxing.
I do spend most of my days in a haze of tiredness if I can't sleep and this can make me grumpy. Last week I stayed up for 35 hours without any sleep as I had to finish my project for Uni. That was weird, when I left my home to take give it in, it was like I was drunk. I could not believe I could have lasted that long, I ended up feeling on a high and found it difficult to finally sleep afterwards.

Oh, its does get that way sometimes, But when you cant sleep there is nothing you can do about it. I suffer from this everynight and only manage to get all up about 2-3 hours a night, I feel like a total zombie but I just try and keep myself busy all the time.

Yes I will agree, there is very little you can do, It's 4.30 am and here I am again typing away and smelling of lavendar. I've tried my best to sleep but gave up half an hour again as I can feel my anger welling inside. Good job I can work around my sleeping patterns and if I knew it wouldn't be dangerous I would stay awake right now and go to work just to try and not give into it, although I have to drive tomorrow and besides that I would be a horrendous grouch!

Lol I was like that this morning.
I had finally gotten to sleep and my brother woke me up -- on purpose. I got back to sleep -- he woke me up again, on PURPOSE. I don't know how many times he did that but I eventually pulled my hand out from under my pillow and pointed my knife at him and told him if he did that one more bloody time I'd kill him *laughs*
I overheard him walk out to the kitchen and brag to dad that he was going to try to drive me mad -- he just wanted to get back at me for the conversation with Mom on how easily I could scare him the other night, I reckon.
Sibling stuff, you know..lol.
I sleep by myself most of the time. "Most of the time" meaning, I've snuggled up with a friend during camping when it gets below freezing some nights, and sometimes my cats sleep on my bed too lol. But they don't snore very loud when they do snore..so often they don't keep me awake -- not usually. Merlin'll get an idea to attack my feet if I'm tossing and turning sometimes, but that's usually a good thing since I am prone to nightmares, heh ^_^

I'm slightly insomniac and it seems to get even worse every day. It does upset me since I know I need the night rest so that I'm ready for tomorrow's tasks, but can't help it. Yes I feel like I want to burn the whole house down sometimes LOL but then I think where would I sleep ?
my husband sleeps faster than I, he snores but not too loud so it never bothers me.

I guess I would class myself as a slight sufferer as I can go for months sleeping really well then all of a sudden I'll have weeks and months of not sleeping well at all, I can't remember it being this bad, usually I'm asleep by 3am but now it's getting to 5am. I can normally survive ok on 5 hours sleep but not on just a couple of hours! Oh hum, thanks for your response!

Oh it wasn't really meant in a literal sense, just the annoyance of insomnia and why you can't get to sleep! Thanks for your reply!

No I do not feel this way when I go to sleep at night as I sleep by myself and find it better to go to sleep early then if I am awaken by noise then I can deal with it a lot easier than sleeping late. But sometimes the children next door start yelling and this is really annoying.

I sleep on my own too, which is really a blessing cause if I did sleep with someone who snored I'd have to bash them with the pillow! lol You're lucky if you can get to sleep quite easily! Thanks for your response!
