Save paper?

Anyobdy see the need to save paper or are there other natural 'resource' disasters that are imminent and that we need to take care off first? Do you try to save paper by using scrap paper when available and using the paper until it is fully filled up? I don't approve of those multi-level companies that go through thousands of reams of papers a day! They just print stuff off from printers just so willy-nilly! Can't the be bothered to write them down if it is just a short note or number? I'm not trying to be stereotypical but; there are very few 'big' companies using non-computer based recording systems nowadays. Looking forward to the responses you have for this contentious issue.

I wouldn't worry about it. The way things are going right now, paper will probably be obsolete or at least "unfashionable" 20-30 years from now. I guess that's how world trends happen. Think of what happened to coal and steam power, of incandescent bulbs. The influence that ECO-groups wield in the political scene is such that if you don't listen to them, your setting yourself up for a political SNAFU.

I do save paper. I tend to turn it over and use the other side. I also cut it up for scrap paper. The company that I used to work for recycled their paper. They were very environmentally friendly. We should each do our bit to help the planet.

I think that everyone needs to be concerned about the environment regardless of how much or how little the impact will be. Recycling a piece of paper may seem small, but someone who does it once will do it again, someone else will see them do it and do it themselves. It will have a great impact. I just heard an article on the radio about a town that now puts all things from their meeting on computer and doesn't use paper at all. Hopefully, someday that will be what everyone does.

I do whatever I cna to help the planet. But at the same time, I need to be able to live my life. I recycle whatever I can - bottles, cardboard, paper, whatever. My work is terrible though - every single order is accompanied by a mountain of paperwork. A lot of the work is computerised, but the problem is that there is so much information and details in the computer, you could never check up on it all. So you need the paper records so you know which orders and things are current so you can work on those. If you can remember them all, then good luck, go nuts, but its not always the case. Same thing when people come to pick up their orders. We in the office need a copy, the people in the yard need a copy to know what to load on the truck, and the customer needs a copy for their own records. Yes, it is a lot of paper, but we need it to function properly. I'm sure there are companies that do waste a lot of paper, but everywhere I've worked pretty much everything is printed out for a reason. I just sit down and figure I'll do the best that I can. If I can recycle things, I will. But hey, I use disposable nappies, I'm using electricty to power the computer, I use petrol in my car. I hate to say it, but its life.

I do my best to save and reuse paper in my house, I'll use both sides for printing, writing and will even rip out blank pages of old diarys or notepads to use as jotters. I try to recycle as much stuff as I can and always try to save energy where possible. And hopefully many others are doing the same.

I think that businesses will always want to spread the word about their wares and services, and writers will always want to write. I have always saved paper, using envelopes and the blank sides of leaflets to jot down my thoughts which I turn into pieces of writing. I reuse envelopes too at times. I have books with any numbers and web sites that I use and I only print off things I really need, such as receipts. I am interested in saving the environment but this was not an issue when I was a child. Pocket money was. Why use my pocket money to buy notebooks when there was always a lot of scrap paper around? I suppose being a meanie has actually helped to conserve trees, when I think about it.

Good topic. As I am directly related to this, I do save papers. I avoid misuses. Most of the works I complete throgh e-mail. Only it is necessary then I use paper. It is made of natural resources, so it is our duty to contribute on prevention of resources. One + one will become lacs one day. Each of us has to think about it. Lac of rims of papers are being wasted in the world in a day working. Mostly through news papers and office works only. One time use is very frequently. I use paper in office only when I have to keep record for future. Most of the work is done through e-mail.

Yes, I save paper. I save my old books and notebooks and a lot more stuff which my Mom calls TRASH hehehe We also save paper in the office. It's one of the cost-cutting measures that we observe.

Oh yes, I am quite green in this sense. I try to maximize the use of each piece of paper before discarding it. I will use both sides. If I come across those with one side left unfilled, I will keep them and use them as "draft paper". ;-)

I am always known for saving paper.. I drive people crazy because I will turn the Paper sideways and rewrite new notes all over again then turn it another angel. So at first glance most people have no idea what I had wrote, but I can figure it out if I turn it at those angles.. Then I am known to go through and erase off all my pencil notes and to write all over again ..... I save every little paper you can write on, and I write on it.. Then when I have basically turned the paper into holes... I will recycle it :) ... I also buy recycled paper... when I buy it. But I am known for digging paper out of the garbage or recycling to use. Amongst 33 family members and 19 school children there is never a shortage of scratch paper.. eventually I will digitize all my handwritten notes.... and save it on a disk... Cardboard and paper I even peel plastic and paper things apart to recycle them. I am sure I drive the companies crazy as I try to recycle everything.. cept for toiletries if I find they would recycle it, then I get creative and reuse it for another purpose, or I use it in an arts and crafts. - DNatureofDTrain

Currently in my job we always re-used paper that have print in just one side for bank statements after filing it for a month we will use the other side of it for printing other stuffs. That way we are maximizing our resources. In some way although it might be little but somehow it will help to decrease the needs of cutting trees and deforestation.

I use more and more electronic documents. First, I used to prefer paper versions, but I am getting more and more used to the electronic ones. Also, I use papers until they are filled in, completely. I don't know if this is motivated by some ecological issues, but that is the way I act. We have some many forests here in Canada, but I think this is not a reason to waste paper.

I agree saving paper is important, since it affects more than one issue, it is not just about conserving paper, it is about trees being used to make the paper, it is about the ozone level being affected by less deforestation, so it is more than just one issue when you bring up saving paper, and yes the idea of printing out something on a whole sheet of paper that takes up only one line seems pointless to me, use a pencil, or pen, write on a post it. Still using paper, just not wasting paper.
