Yes. Several times. I believe in Karma and Maya, and Matrix was based on the idea of Maya that Indian philosophy talks about.

The concept of Matrix was inspired from the concepts from several books of religion like the Bible and Gita, primarily on the concept of 'maya' from the karma philosophy. 'Maya' literally means "not this", i.e. this world is not what it is. I believe in it to a great extent. I had wondered on those lines many times before the movie was even released and so when the movie was released it appealed to me completely.
