i have a monitor that i love it is an old 17 inch. it use to go with my 800 celeron pc but well i got another pc now and when i hooked it up the monitor lost like 2 inches off the bottom it is just black but when i play games the game goes all the way to the bottom but is black so i cant play games on it. we tried switching it to hubbys pc and me use his but same thing but when i put his monitor on mine it worked fine. so its not my pc. when i hooked it up to anopther old pc we have it worked great. why wont it work with a pc that has a bigger processor though. its like 800 celeron was the biggest pc it wanted to work with. lol

it sounds like the monitor is too old for the graphics being thrown at it. you might see if there's an updated driver for your monitor type http://www.windrivers.com/

It sounds like your monitor is going on you . We have had two that have did this to us already . It is hard to say how much longer it will last but I would keep my eyes open for another one as it could go on your tomorrow . I found ours would come and go and this could explain why it seems to work better when hooked up to another pc .

What Screen resolution are you using, Old monitors have problems displaying the higher resolutions, Try a lower resolution. Also try adjusting the Horizontal and Vertical adjustments on the monitor. Failing that, I'd guess you'd need a new monitor.
