You are not a terrible mother at all! I have an 8 year old son, and also 8 nephews. buying for boys has become to easy for me. Here are some ideas for you. I do try to avoid electronic games and things as my son gets too much "screen time" as it is. 1)Bionicles (Little Lego type toys that you build into robots. He LOVES These!!) 2)Hot Wheels cars, tracks, & games. 3)ANYTHING to do with trains. I wish we had the space for him to have a model train. 4)Board or card games. he loves UNO, Clue jr., Sequence, Yatzee, Dominos, Life, and Monopoly Jr. just to name a few. 5) Baseball, bats, glove, tee. 6) accessories for his bike. My little guy likes little flashy lights that you attach to the spoke of his bike. 7)baseball cards, or any kind of collecting cards 8) BOOKS!!!!!!!!!! 9) My son is in Cub Scouts, so we've started him with camping things...sleeping bags, travel pillows, little camp sets (like metal plates and silverware) 10) Even little boys like something soft and squishy to cuddle with. My son got an Easter bunny just like his little sisters did for Easter. He was just as happy about it as they were. I would give him something he can develop as a new hobby. Maybe get him a nice cheap camera. He can take pics and you can get him some picture frames or scrapbook to put in his favourite ones.
