Hi Aries_0325, Of course, I cannot confirm this first hand, cause I'm not quite that old ... but yes, it is believed to have been a planetary alignment. Many other theories have been investigated including both nova and supernova. But the most plausible theory is a Jupiter/Venus conjunction.
