Have you ever felt completely helpless?

Has there ever been a time in your life when you felt unable to do anything to change a situation? For me, there have been a coupple of times that this has happened. Today is one of them. My son is suffering from the flu and has been vomiting and crying all day. We took him to the doctor, but you can only do so much for a stomach virus. I feel so helpless when cuddling and showing him books doesn´t help a bit! What was your helpless situation?

One of my most helpless situations was when I gave birth to my son six weeks prematurely. He was in the NICU for close to a month before I was able to bring him home, so I felt pretty helpless for most of that time. Trips to the hospital every single day, multiple times a day most days to be with him, but not being able to help him so that he could come home sooner was frustrating.

My son only spent 8 days in the hospital at birth, but it was awful. I hope your son is doing well now!

I think by reading others situations, one must always put in perspective their own "tragedies" Both my sons have been ill. One was in intensive care for 15 days. yet I see the poster who has a son that will never be "normal" and yet they continue on day after day. Then worse yet is the woman who lost her child. While it is horrible to watch your child ill and know deep down there is nothing you can do, give blessings that you still have your child, as I do mine. And my thoughts & prayers go out to these people that live through these tragedies every day. I hope your son feels better by now, since I am 3 days late... :) And may you continue to enjoy him for many years to come.
