Playing Music Loud

There are several people in my neighborhood that enjoy sharing their music with everyone else on the block. There are times that I do not mind it, cause they are actually listening to something that I enjoy listening to, but at other times it some sort of something (not sure I would really consider it to be music), that has nothing but the constant boom boom of the bass. The type that seems to bounce around in your skull, stopping all forms of normal thought, into the realm of wanting to take some form of revenge on these people.
There isn't much one can really do. Since my town don't have much of a noise ordinance in place, only if it is past midnight will the police do anything about it. So I sit here in silence, quietly plotting my revenge to get back at these people, without blowing my speakers in my stereo and without winding up in some dark corner, knees drawn up to my chin, rocking back and forth mumbling something incoherent. lol
In light of this topic. How do you deal with people that find it necessary to share their music with everyone nearby? Do you quietly plot revenge on these people? Or would you go over and politely ask them if they could please turn it down so you can think straight?

I have same problem as yours. My neighbours doesn't bother about people living near their apartment. They love to listen rock and pop and play it very loud. I'm litterely fed up of their acts. I'm thinking of firing a FIR against them. ( FIR is first investigation report at police station ) I have tried everything till the day to let them know that we are suffering. I have asked them polietly and rudely. This people doesn't care for anybody so first idea of registering a police complaint is best for them .

The problem here is I have been the only one to complain about it persistantly. The police won't do anything unless others in my neighbor start complaining as well. As far as I know my neighbors and others on the block don't mind, since they themselves listen to loud music on ocassion. Is really frustrating sometimes. Cause it seems that I'll have to go out and purchase ear plugs, when I am wanting to think.

What a great topic! I think alot of people know what you're talking about. I go through this all of the time! Literally almost every day. There are times even at 1, 2, 3 in the morning, a.m., yes, I will hear music playing at my neighbors house. I've wanted to call the police so many times but my husband tells me, don't call, they'll turn it off soon. So, yeah, it disturbes me quite a bit! The other day my kids were playing outside, there's this popular r&b song I've heard before that is called I wanna love you. The original song actually says I wanna ____ you. I'm sure you can figure out what that is. So they were playing out there while my neighbor was out cleaning his car and I hear that song playing. So I'm thinking in my head, is this guy serious?! I hope to God that's not the uncensored song! So I go out there and that's exactly what was playing! I freaked out and yelled at my kids over the ridiculous music and told them to get inside. He seen me and heard me when I told them to get in because I yelled and said, "Oh my Gosh, get inside now, I can't believe that stupid song is playing while you guys are out here!" So as soon as we came inside and I slammed the door I heard the music turn off. So, he knew it affected me, lol. So, yes, there are so many times I've wanted to say something to them personally, or even call the cops but I hold back my tongue, just don't know how much more I can take though.

I don't mind the swear words all that much, but I do when small children are about playing. He should of changed it cause of the kids being outside, but some people just don't think.
I'm just about at my wits end here with loud music being played. I'm to the point now that I don't care how rude I will sound, I am just longing for some dang peace and quiet for a few weeks. That's all I ask and it's really not that long.

Well, my house actually surrounded with people that has different taste of music. More like a nut house when it comes for summer/vacation time. The neigbour on my left side will play all times music, on the right side will play house music and the other one traditional music, and the one in front of me will be busy listening football outloud. And as you said, police only come if its past midnight. Ah well, I don't think revenge will solve the problem though. I'll just close my windows, or go out with my husband and daughter and if it's too much....I'll just go over and ask them to turn it down a bit...

Lately my Landlord has been the worst! He is doing renovations where he lives (upstairs) and he is a Fireman so he has really messed up hours. I can understand that, but to bang around at 3 am when most people are trying to sleep and especially when we have a 10 month old and he knows that just makes me mad. I can't call the Landlord because he is the Landlord, and I don't want to call the Cops on him because he might get ticked off at me and throw us out.

Dang that would suck. I wouldn't know what to do in that situation either. About the only thing I could think of was to talk to him about it and see if there was a certain time that you both could agree on despite his weird hours.

Hi! I am one of those who like to share my music, oh but only if they start sharing theirs :) I would put the speaker right on max volume and go somewhere hehe. I rarely do that. Only on special occasions when I go a little crazy. I sometimes just quietly plot revenge too. Other times I let them be and shut out their noise. Im thinking it's their eardrums, and may they burst in peace hehehe. Thanks for the post. Have a nice day!

If I am in a particular mood I may share mine as well, just to drown out whatever wannabe music the person at the time is listening to. Though I don't do it long, cause don't want to wear out my stereo that quickly. Most times I just sit here and wish that their stereo would blow up, than at least I would have a few days of quiet until they went out and got themselves a new one.

That problem here is basically from cars driving by or cars stopped at a red light. Thet share their music big time...the ground vibrates with the bass beat. I once read that a sure sign of matyrity was when they learn that the volume knob turns left also. I can vouch for the fact that there isn't much maturity noticable in this area. I figure in 20 years or so they will be keeping the hearing aide companies in business.

I figure the same with the people in my neighborhood that listen to really loud music, with keeping the hearing aide companies busy, but I would prefer that they kept it down sometimes, cause I work at home and it makes it hard to think sometimes.
