I was never into brand names. A lot of my clothes aren't popular brands. So, I've saved a lot of money in that area. Is having brand named items necessary? Will it increase your popularity?

I have never been that type of person to require name brands. My sister is the opposite though...knowing all the names and what they cost. It just seems to me that I have better things to do with my time and money. Sure, I like Tommy...I even have a pair of Tommy high heels and knee high boots. But that is also only because I got them from DSW...a discount shoe warehouse. :) A few years ago, my sister bought me a Nine West purse. She was so excited for me. And then preceded to get upset at me for not knowing who or what Nine West was. She also decided that I needed to learn how to "Name Drop". Because if you have something that is designer, then one must "Name Drop". Umm...yeah, sorry....I don't get it. What I do get is what I like and try to save money while doing it. LOL

Same here, my brother is totally nuts over brands. He spent most of his money on brand name stuff. But, in his line of work interior design, I guess he had to show his clients brands.

I wear basic brand names like Ana jeans and Arizona t-shirts. They aren't the best known brands but they work for me. It isn't necessary to have brand name clothes since they don't increase popularity all that much.

I wasn't either. It took me a while but I did finally manage to convince hubby that clothes from Walmart, Kmart & Target were just as good as clothes from the mall & were way less expensive. There are times that we will buy a particular brand name of clothes, but it's usually because of the way they fit. Hubby prefers Levis over Wranglers but in his line of work, it's better to ruin a $12 pair or Wranglers than a $50 pair of Levis. I prefer Chic jeans for the range of sizes that fit me better than most of the others. Other than that, it's usually whatever is on sale & we're comfortable wearing. It never has to do with popularity as all our friends like to save money too, lol.

Yes, I love Jos A Bank, Vinyard Vines and Brooks Brothers. I just prefer brand namessince they look and feel better than generic ones and hold up better over time.
