i have heard this debate for years. I've heard people whining that it's too hard to sing.So what? Why change now after all these years. To me,there are no other songs that even come close to what "The Star Spangled Banner"stands for .to replace it with another song would not be the same. What do you think?

Oh for goodness sakes. It really gets my dander up when I hear crap like this! There is no reason to change the national anthem, and most especially its being difficult to sing is not a justifiable reason! So whoever came up with this lame excuse, what are they proposing to replace the anthem with, the sesame street theme? That is quite easy to sing!

No, I think it is just fine the way it is. I hate how they are trying to change everything about our country like we are all Nonbelievers who are sicko's. Sorry but I am really aggervated that they can take the word God out of everything just because some people choose to be nonbelieving. This country was founded so we could pray and worship and now they are trying to keep us from worshiping. What is up with these people???

I think it is fine the way it is and do not see why people would complain about it. It is not that hard to learn if you take the time to learn and memorize it. I think there are many other anthems that would be much more difficult to learn than ours. I think that changing our anthem would really take away from our countries history.

I couldn't have said it any better myself.I don't know why people in this country always feel the need to mess with things that shouldn't be messed with.

OMG!! I am so sick of America trying to change her history and everything that makes her wonderful and great. The Brits have always said that we have no history as a country and things like this makes me think maybe they are right. You would never see England changing her national anthem. That would be like a complete and total insult to all the great history makers that have made England what she is today. Same goes for America. Francis Scott Key wrote our national anthem as a way to honor the revolutionary troops who were fighting for our freedoms. It was meant to honor our flag and our nation. How dare anyone even suggest that we should change any part of our national song. As a child it was so important to my grandparents, my parents and even my teachers that we all learn The Star Spangled Banner. It was so well ingrained that it became my mission as a child to learn all four verses of the song. I learned them all and was asked to sing them at my elementary school's talent show. It must have been my proudest moment. Ok, so the song is hard, but that which comes too easy is not appreciated. WHen you learn your national anthem, and it's a hard one like ours, it is a great and proud moment for that person. The lack of patriotism in this country just disgusts me. What happened to American pride?

Sometimes I think I should have been born in the 40s or 50s when people in American really appreciated what being an American meant and were proud to sing The Star Spangled Banner, fly the American flag everyday, and didn't even question whether we shoud be saying "One nation under God" when we said the pledge. I guess I am one of those rare people under 40 who still believes in our country and what she stands for. I still get teary eyed when I see my beautiful flag flying in front of a group of little old men who are so proud to have served their country. I still get overwhelmed when I see those massively huge flags that fly on top of high rise buildings sometimes. I am one of those people who falls to pieces when I see pictures of the Vietnam Memorial. I pray for our troops every night and my heart breaks every time I hear that another soldier has fallen. I guess I was just born in the wrong era.

I feel the same way Vokey.I think we were both born in the wrong era. It just infuriates me to see people take our government for granted or badmouthing the troops or being disrespectful to the flag, the ingrates.I keep holding onto the fact that there are a few patriotic people left in this country.

I 've been waiting for you to show up in this discussion, lol. Who said the people in this country have any patriotism? I am even seeing less and less people flying the flag anymore. whenever i hear our national anthem, I just get the shivers thinking of Francis Scott Key looking at all these bombs going off yet still saw the flag fly all torn and tattered. There is no other song that gives me goosepimples like our anthem and as for it being hard to sing so what?I don't mind
