one time, i lost the other half of my slipper. what i did was i also leave the other half on where i thought i lost the half.
another instance was when our dog bit the half of my shoe. it bore small holes after. what i did with the other half was i tied it with the good pair and put it in the garbage can. hoping that someone would want to have it and can still use it.
do you throw away both pairs in case one is destroyed or missing?

We sure have the missing shoe and sock phenomenon in our house too. We have a really bad case of "sock gone missig", and although I seem to be able to find most of our shoes's patners, I have to throw out many socks each year.
It was worse, when my oldest son went to day care, but now that both kids are home with me, we seem to have less of a problem.

My son´s shoes are constantly disappearing . . . but only one at a time. I have no idea where they go. Sometimes they show up again after he´s already outgrown the darn things. Every once in a while, I just go on a rampage and throw out all his unmatched things (his gramma buys heaps of shoes for him at the second hand market).

I put my shoes well, so I don't have to worry I an unable to lose one of them. There is an interesting thing. That is when you are trying to look for something, they are unavailable. But when you give up to look for them, they will appear in front of you:)

This has never happened to me, I have heard of missing socks but not shoes.
