Exercise or take slimming pil?

I have a friend has over weight problem. He already try many ways to reduce his weight. But, it doesn't works! He try to do exercise, jogging and outdoor activities but it look like no effect to his weight. He only get tired at the end. Recently, he had ask my opinion to take slimming pil. But, i do not know how to answer him, because i do not know whether the pil is realy works or not and also there are so many slimming pil were advertised out there. We don't know which one is good and no effect to our health. Anyone out there can help?

stick with exercise, the optimum pace to go at to burn fat is 65% of your maximum heartbeat, to work this out to 220 - your age, this is your maximum heart rate then just divide by 100 and times by 65, exercise alone is not going to help lose weight, he needs to eat and drink healthily otherwise all his work will be put to waste.
