Do you do tanning salon's or natural outside sun?

I get a lot of sun on my face arms and legs. But I was thinking about getting a more even tan on my legs this summer. How safe are these tanning salon's?

I don't tan, I burn. lol Besides, can't afford the luxury of a tanning salon so would have to favor natural sunlight. In my yard, thou, it would be more like natural shade since the sun doesn't hit any area of our yard for very long.
