Was it right to can Imus?

I personally feel this was a bittersweet victory bitter because Imus served many years as a public figure and yes there have been some questionable moments but he is a senior citizen and he only put the food in the plate but the place was set by Mr. Richards of "Seinfeld" Had Mr. Richards been properly reprimanded there would probably not be a case of Imus making those disrespectful remarks to a group of promising young ladies. In all reality Mr. Richards will receive enough money from Syndication that he won't have to worry about stand up and I hope Imus can manage on interviews but it seems to me that there is more to this than Imus making that comment. We as people of color need to start respecting ourselves and treating our women as queens and our men as kings and raising our little girls as princesses and our little boys as princes so that we may one day have true kings and queens to give us much needed leadership. These two instances in my opinion are very different and the more harmful of the two was the comments made by Mr. Richards. He demeaned a whole race of people who suffered beatings, rapes , lynchings and prohibition. People whose plights can be directly compared to the Holocaust victims. You don't wait until the chain picks up links to take a stand, you stomp it out at the head before it forms. Don't think for one minute that MSNBC felt so bad they took a stand for righteousness but know it was the threat of the sponsors whom we patronize realizing that we are a people that buy any everything we fancy and they don't want to lose the revenue. Considering all things suspension and an apology should have been enough for Imus but the shoe he wears should have gone to Mr. Richards it's just his size.

Imus' comments ahve nothing to do with internal issues in the "black community". There are no excuses that can be turned to blame the "victims" of this fool's error. This is not the firt time that Imus has had issues like this. H is responsible for his own actions. He can now retire and write books or go off planet with Howard Stern and Martha Stweart and get a satellite program. He doesn't need any pity. There is nothing poor about him other than his judgment.

I agree with you I just feel the magnitude of comments made are nothing in comparison with ones made by Richards and if one goes they both should go. This is not a plea for pity it is just a view of the choice they made to can one and not the other.
