Recently banned in the UK with points on your license and a fine, you can't use your mobile phone handset whilst your driving - OK I can see the logic, you've only got 2 hands so if the phone's in one and the other's changing gear who's pointing the car in the right direction? But... now they say it's just as dangerous to use a hands free kit while driving - WHY? isn't it the same as talking to a passenger?

I agree with you there. If they are using a hands free one then it would be the same as talking with someone in the car. So long as you have your hands and head free why should it matter? I'd love to know their thinking on this and what they are saying is the cause for why it would be just as dangerous. I do agree that with the non-hands free it is dangerous not just because your hand isn't free but neither is your head since you are holding the phone too it and it could block your vision or limit how you move to see things. However that would not be happening with the hands free so how is it any more distracting or dangerous then having a car full of passengers and talking with them?
