Yeah, I felt bad too, but mine wasnt even a necessity. But that was back in my dumber days :) Plus luckily it was only 3 hours after writing the check that we got the money, and I knew they couldnt cash it at 9pm. Still doesnt make me right! At least you are getting for your daughter!

I've never purposely written a bad check. There was one time when I forgot to write a check down in my checkbook that bounced. I never write a check that I don't believe or know that the money is in the acoount. Esspecially with todays technology. With the write check machine the money is automaticlly removed from your account.

YES! At the grocery store on base it verifies the funds are there! I just use my debit card for everything now, cheaper than using checks anyways!

I don't recall ever writing a bad check, but I have used my debit card as a credit card as it doesn't usually go through my bank right away like a debit card purchase does. It was a day or two before my husband's payday and I hadn't checked the bank account in several days so I put the purchases I made as credit. Luckily there WAS enough funds to cover the cost of the items I bought, though it was close to being overdrawn. My mom wrote some bad checks when I was 11 years old (for groceries). She would hope that she would be able to make it to the bank in time to not have the check bounce, but sometimes she wasn't so lucky. About a year later I was right outside my house when a woman came up to me. She asked me if my mom was home (she actually asked for my mom's first and last name) and I said no. She then proceeded to yell at me, mind you I was 12 but looked several years older than I was (without makeup), and tell me that my mother was in big trouble. Years later I found out the woman that yelled at me a no right to do so as I was just a kid and that she could have gotten in trouble with her boss for doing what she did to me.

I've done that before but the thing is nowadays some places can cash your check automatically through the computer. I am not sure how the whole thing works but at my son's daycare the money is out of our account the day I write the check. I guess they are trying to avoid people from writing check when there is no money in the bank.
