They say that sports doesn't build character, it reveals it. Nothing has revealled this as true more than the media in the last few days. Liberal talk show host Don Imus made a disparaging remark against the Rutger's Women's Basketball team. Sure, what he said was shameful and without merit, they were just words. Stripper Crystal Mangum lied about a rape. She invented charges against three (or was it 20, or was it 2) men who played LaCrosse for Duke University. These were not mere words, these were charges that led to actions taken against the men accused and the Duke LaCrosse team. Because of his words, Don Imus is being suspended and "Civil Rights" groups are actively working towards him being fired completely... Where are the "civil rights" groups where the Duke LaCrosse team is concerned? They were all about coming out to "help" Crystal Mangum. The Rev. Jesse Jackson even offered her a scholarship. Jackson and Al Sharpton were relentless in their castigation of the "rich" "white" "privileged" players. I guess "civil rights" is just another name for racism, since race is ALL the modern "civil rights" movement is about. Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and Crystal Mangum deserve punishment far more than Don Imus. They owe far more apologies, but we don't see the incompetent fools in the press even asking for them, do we. Niether the Women of Rutger's Basketball nor the Men of Duke LaCrosse deserved what was said about them... hoever, it is only because of an incompetent press, racist "leaders", and a total lack of a public sense of perportion that only the women are getting the apologies they deserve... and the true criminals getting the punishment they deserve.

I can't help but wonder sometimes if the only reason racism is still alive in this country is because of people like Al Sharpton. The only time you ever hear anything about civil rights is when it involves a black person. you made a good point with this discussion and I hope people take the time to read it and think about it.

Racism still exsist because you have ignorant people who think just because they are of a certian race they are superior to another... not because of Al sharpton or Jessie Jackson...Who started the Civil Rights Movement... (Blacks) and it wasn't just to benit blacks but for all races, and genders... it even depits on age....his comment was very bias...

First off, Acoustic, Sharpton and Jackson did NOT start the civil rights movement. In fact, there is a lot of evidence that Rev. Martin Luther King thought Jesse Jackson was the liar and opportunist we now all know him to be. Jackson and Sharpton have done NOTHING for Black Americans (except themselves). Jackson offered a scholarship to Crystal Mangum and has stated that he doesn't owe the LaCrosse players any apologies. Jackson and Sharpton do nothing but bait racism for their own gain and ignorant fools keep running back to them while racist fools in the press look to them to speak for all Black Americans. If that is your brand of "civil rights", you deserve what they give you.

Racisum and Sexisum are going strong in America today. A White Man insults Black Women and he loses his job(even after he publiclly apologies). The Black community is outraged and rushes to the Black Womens defence. A Black Woman falsely accuses White Men of rape. The Black community rallys around the Black Woman. The White men are charged and finally proved that the Black Woman was lying and the White Men are declaired innocent. No charges aginst the Black Woman. Leaders of the Black Community still claim that something happened and support the Black Woman. If you are a White Man you are to blame and have no rights. Which is worse to be called a discusting name on a radio show with few listners or to be accused of Rape by national leaders on National TV and Radio and in the print media for over a year. At the time of this post only one person has offeren an apology. The media and national leaders who accused the White Men have nothing to say and have even said they wil not apologize. This is an example of racsum and sexisum against White Men, but thye can not file a complaint with the Civil Rights Commission. One more thought. If America is a racist society against Blacks, why is Senator Obama denying his white heritage? Why do Black leaders accuse him of not being "Black Enough".

These 2 items being in the news at the same time is a very good thing. It helps to demonstrate the double standard that is prevalent in our country. Imus makes a statement and the black community jumps all over him and wants an example set. Some white guys are falsely accused of rape, the black community jumps all over the those players, their reputations are destroyed and their futures are damaged, even though we now know it wasn't true, there are some who will always wonder. It has come to light that the black accuser has lied. Her story was inconsistent from the start. Where are the apologies from those black leaders that were going after those players? Where are the demands for their firings? Where is the outrage for the racist hate that they spewed? There is racism in America, and as long as there are people like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, and as long as there are organizations like the NAACP, this racism will continue. These people and organizations depend on racism for their survival. That is why they promote it every chance they get, even if it wasn't really a factor to begin with. If racism isn't an issue, it will be by the time they get done with it. We even have racism in our Government in the form of a Black Caucus...if our government is supposed to be of and for the people, then why is there a Black Caucus at all? There should be a zero tolerance for racism that applies to everyone, and not just some based on their race.
