Over the past few years I have heard a lot about global warming and the ice caps melting and floodig the world. Just the other day I read an article that says how experts aren't sure how long it will take before the world is flooded. What do you guys think about all this global warming hype and will it actually affect us?

After reading An Inconvenient Truth by Al Gore I'm convinced that global warming is not only real but the need to turn it around is critical. The science noted in his book is very convincing and gives good estimates of timelines if nothing is done. It already affects us. The weather extremes are increasing in frequency and severity. Species are disappearing at an alarming rate. Sea levels are rising every year. Skin cancer is on the rise due to the increased intensity of the sun through the environment. Respiratory illness is greatly increased. Weather patterns are shifting all around the world. On and on and on.

I wonder why people respond to the discussions without any knowledge.. is global warming the sun's activity?? that's wrong!!! global warming is caused by human activity.. who is responding the nonsense that it's god's activity??..ok .. due to global warming we will be facing lot of natural disasters soon..

From what I have heard, scientists who say there is no global warming are not given credit to even though they can give evidence that it is not happening or rather evidence that humans are not causing it. If humans cause global warming, than obviously there is only one solution and you can figure what it is. However if God caused it through increasing the sun's activity, the end of the world is near, or we are at the end of one of those frequent mini ice ages, then what will happen if that as soon as the world reaches the sufficient heat, it will start to cool down again. If God is heating the world up to have it burned by fire, there is nothing we can do about it, but if it is something else, we cannot do anything about it. The proponents that say there is global warming show pictures of starving people in third world countries, animals in the jungle dying, places in Africa and Asia now flooding, etc. but they never say that that the growing season in Northern United States or Canada is a good thing. So I believe this global warming is being milked for its political advantage to transfer the wealth from the north to the south or we have to all shell out thousands of dollars to change our heating systems in our houses, food will cost more so that those elsewhere in the south will benefit The problem is that we will demand they cut down on their use of oil and gas so no one will benefit.

I am reading a book from the library at the moment. It gives lots of examples of global warming. The Maldives might go under water and the weather in Spain might reach 50 degrees in the summer. I think this sounds awful. I would hate the flooding to happen as well. We can buy electrical products with an A on them as this will help. We can use less energy, like having our washing machine at 40 degrees instead of 60 degrees. We can use low energy light bulbs. Doing things like this might slow global warming.
