How Has Suicide Affected You?

Several years ago, a really good friend of mine's 12 year old son committed suicide. I could not immagine what could have made that poor young man think his life was no longer worth living. To this day, I still remember that young man and I've decided to help educate my local community about suicide among young people. I recently attended a conference on the Prevention of Suicide here in my home province of Nova Scotia. I found it shocking to hear the statistics about how many deaths have occured in my small province due to suicide, especially among our Aboriginal communities. I think it is extremely important to confront this issue "head on" with education and social programmes that focus on helping those who need it. If any of you have stories...please share.
