a hot hairdryer has been left on my bedroom carpet & it now has 2 burn marks, one of them is very deep, almost through to the underlay. the carpet is only 6 months old, & i don't have any spare pieces to do a patch-up on it. any ideas would be appreciated

Hi With the carpet only being 6 months old one thing I would try to do is go to local stores that carry carpeting and match it. Did you put the carpeting in or is this an apartment. If it is an apartment, Most the time the landlords will get the carpet from local companies. I would frist shop around and see if you could find the carpeting. Once you do most time the store would give you a sample of the carpeting or sell a small portion. This way you can cut the burnt part out and replace with the new. They have a two way stick tape that is wide. After you cut out the burnt part, cut the new section to have a tight fit. Then apply the two way sticky tape to the section of the carpet on the floor. Once you have that done then insert the new piece and make sure you press hard on all side to get the carpet piece to adhear to the tape.
Good luck
