Perfume Recommendations?

I'm looking for a new perfume. My current 'signature scent' is CK Obsession Night, but after over a year of that I need something new. It was a gift from a boyfriend that thought it would smell beautiful on me, and it does, but I'm very over it. I loved Thierry Mugler's Angel, but it might have been the only, umm, cloying scent that I ever really liked, since I tend to like things that are fruity (Davidoff's Cool Water), light and and/or 'green' smelling. Some light florals can be nice. Anything that smells tropical or a lot like suntan oil would be heaven, since I adore summer. The main things to keep in mind is that I'm 23, so it has to be something fairly youthful (but I'm not a child either), not too expensive (over $100 a bottle is OUT!) and if it's too heavy could cause me to flare up (I'm sensitive to very strong perfumes like Chanel No. 5, etc). Any suggestions?

My daughter who is in her early 30's has two favorite perfumes. She likes Liz Claiborne and also Sunflowers. They are both reasonably priced $20-$40 range and last a very long time. She likes them because they are not old lady smelling, but also don't smell like bubble gum. Good Luck !

My favorite scent right now is L'Occitane's Honey water. It costs $30 a bottle and is great for sensative skin because there is no alchohol in it. It's water based and really light, while still being pretty youthful and sweet. I get complimented on it all the time. You should read the description on their website if you are interested because it also includes some greens and light florals: http://usa.loccitane.com/product/product.asp?product=15ET100M3&variant=&= If you want something less delicate, you should check out scents from Demeter (great original scents like Sugar Cookie, and Pomegranate). You should checkout their Suntan scent. That one is made to smell just like suntan lotion. Here is their website: http://www.demeterfragrance.com I'm also in my 20s and I think I have 3 different bottles of their perfume for the simple reason that all their scents are really unique and smell exactly how they say they will.

Do you know if any department stores or specialty stores might carry it? I'm apprehensive to buy a new perfume online because I don't know how I might react to it.

A lot of places sell it, but it is usually small boutiques. I would try Sephora or maybe Anthropologie. A lot of little gift shop places around me sells it. Also what's fun is that each store usually sells different scents than the ones near it. To try scents that I haven't been able to find, I have also gotten small samples off of ebay.

I like to change up my signature scent every few years too. I just bought a new perfume oil from a company called Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab(or BPAL for short). It's very affordable ($20 for a 5ml vial-which lasts a long time) The scent I just purchsed is called "White Rabbit". Here is the description for the BPAL site.... WHITE RABBIT Strong black tea and milk with white pepper, ginger, honey and vanilla, spilled over the crisp scent of clean linen. I think it's smells heavenly and it's a perfect year round scent. Another good one is called "Eat Me" It's "Three white cakes, vanilla, and red and black currants." It's very yummy smelling. If you love perfumes, or just reading about scent descriptions (I have spent hours reading the descriptions on this site...they are just so fun!), check out: http://www.blackphoenixalchemylab.com/
