a few years ago a lot of children and adults became ill, several dieing from e-coli poisoning at the Jack in the Box restaurant. Then there was the Mad Cow Disease fright. More recently Diamond dog food had moldy corn fillers and shut down the organs of beloved pets. Then it was Spinach that had e-coli, then something at taco bell... moist pet foods were the next target (still a problem) and now it is Listerine Children's Mouth Rinse that is contaminated. What is going on here? can we feel safe buying foods and medicinals at all? or is it a Russian Roulette? Are these incidentals or are they planned conspiracies? One thing for certain it is nerve wracking!

I thinking if we knew what we were eating and drinking we wouldn't eat or drink anything. I can remember growing up in the 50's and if you were working out in the garden or just playing outside and needed a drink we often drank right from the garden hose. To day I'm buying bottled water because I'm told the tap water isn't safe to drink. I fear for the future of my grandchildren. It's bad enough right now.

I know! not only is tap water not good for you - but the hose you drink out of can poison you as most are not made of rubber anymore, but some type of pvc/vinyl which leaches into the water when the sun warms it up. Soon enough "big brother" will be needed to provide for us even the basic essentials of life. What is next? the air that we breathe? I guess it is a good idea to have a backstock pantry so that the things you grab out to eat today were put back several months ago....so as a food is recalled you can be ahead of the game as far as that goes. But then with the peanut butter scare I think they were recalling products from more than a year old. oye! let's get back to local growers, producers, sellers...get our necessities out of the grips of big conglomerations who do not have contact with the people and likewise have little to no concerns for the "real person" when the community relied on itself for basic needs, the community cared about the community - cared about the product quality and reliability.
