Okay, when we're kids sometimes our parents try to scare us to keep us from doing something wrong or bad and it pretty much works. I mean, really, they are trying to do what's best for us.
And of course as kids, we really do believe everything that they say.
Now, this is kind of funny, so I'm telling from before, so no one thinks I'm emotional or upset about any of this.
Ok, when I was a kid, I always was the funny, clowny type, and I loved making stupid faces, one of my favorites was the mixture of the tongue sticking out of my mouth to one side, and at the same time crossing my eyes to look right at the tip of my nose. Actually, I used to do the crossing eyes bit a lot, and of course it's one of those things that parents always want you to stop doing, so once my mom told me that if I keep doing it, one day my eyes will get permanently stuck that way. Now, as a kid I believed that, and I was scared too, but of course it didn't stop me from still doing it, he he.
But now that I think about it, it feels so funny and actually so adorable that my mom would say something like that, and I can't help but think that parents do that all the time, you know make some original horror story, to scare you into behaving, of course always keeping your best interest at heart.
So, do you have any cute lie like that your parent told you?

For us doing those faces mom's aunt's etc would say "one day your face is going to freeze that way"
Actually back in the 80's a book came out called Momalies those things your mother's tell you
Don't cross your eyes, they'll get stuck that way!"
"Finish those peas, there are starving people in India!"
"This hurts me more than it hurts you
do you want your face to freeze like that ?"
"Close the door! Do you think I'm paying to heat the outside?"
"I'm not going to tell you again." Of course this one was repeated numerous times
Theres no such thing as a little bit pregnant.
You are known by the company you keep.
If work were meant to be fun, theyd call it play.

There were several things that I remember being told by family members, here are a selection of what I was told..
1)If you eat too many chips then the zit fairy would come and get me at night
2)Sick was stored in the back of my legs
3)If I didn't eat my crusts on my sandwiches I'd get curly teeth!
4)I had bags of gold in my head (this was a school teacher who said that!)
5)If I lied I'd get spots on my tongue
6)Every time I needed to get vaccinations, one of my aunts said the needles they needed to use were 6 inches long...which is the size of my handspan now!
I look back and smile at the things I was told, but as a youngster you marvel at these blantant lies, taking them in as gospel truth!

Well, I do agree with no. 4, you do have bags of gold in your head, I don't know what your teacher meant by that, but I mean that in the greatest way possible.
Now I can see where all that creativity and humor comes from, you obviously come from a gene pool of quite interesting people. And I mean that, my favorite one is no. 2, curly teeth, is that even remotely possible.....ha ha, lies your folks told you were apparently very creative.

My mother would say that if I didn't finish my rice, I would pick each and every piece (multiplied to 10,000) in hell. Just the idea of going to hell scares me. She would say this because she'd always have difficulty making me eat. She would also say that if I would be naughty, the policeman will get me. I was growing up afraid of policemen because that would mean confinement, and that would be away from my family. My mother knows what I'm afraid of, and used this to her advantage. Oh, well...at least I know she loved me so much because she had only my best interests at heart. Happy myLotting.

My mom told me that if I talked about people behind their back I would grow another face! Get it... I'd be two faced... I didn't get it until I was much older. Then she told me the thing about my face staying that way when I made faces or crossed my eyes.
Now she tells my neice, who is deathly afraid of bugs, that there are bugs anyway she doesn't want her to go to get into things. If she wants her to stay out of the hallway, she tells her there are bugs in the hallway. Kind of cruel, but effective on some levels I guess. x_x

I dont rememebr my mom telling me anything like that but my grandma sure did. She told me and my cousins that if we left the yard and were bad or didnt listen the milkman would kidnap us. Well one day we were all in the backyard playing and this white van pulled up next to the fence. OMG we all screamed really loud and ran into the house. We thought for sure that we were about to be kidnapped!

Yup my mom said the same thing. My father lost to fingers in an accident at work. My younger cousin sucked the same two fingers. Her parents told her if she didnt stop sucking her fingers they would fall off just like Uncle Danny's. She used to lie in bed and compare her hands to see if they were shrinking. She is now 38 and we still laugh about this and how scared she was.

So, did it actually help, I mean, did she actually stopped sucking fingers? That's not good you know, it can affect the speech and teeth of a child, so I guess although it seems funny and it really is, it is nice how parents think of ways to look out for their kids.
