Do you have any tricks for staying awake when you have to take a long drive? It’s definitely hard sometimes and I am always looking for new tricks.
When I was living in San Diego, I used to have to take an 8-hour drive by myself to visit friends and family, so I learned a few tricks. I would drive with the windows down the entire way to keep cold air hitting my face. Also, I would usually have my iPod playing music that was loud and fast and that I knew the words to so that I could sing along. This would keep me alert. worst case scenario, I'd find a place to stop and take a short nap...
What about you? Do you have any tricks or secrets to share? I am always looking for good ideas.

i have alot of trouble driving long distances and trying to stay alert and awake! when it gets hard, i will open a window, the cool air, and the sound give me new life, and if your a little uncomfortable, you tend to stay awake. ALOT of coffee helps too.

Hahaha... too right, coffee does work, even if only to spurn having to use the restroom and using that sensation to stay awake... The cold air trick is usually the best one for me... but that one is starting to not work anymore either.
Thanks for the response!

I drive back to my hometown every weekend. The journey takes about 3 hours. What do I do to keep awake? Well, I always sing when I drive. I tend to sing Mariah Carey's songs and striving to hit all those high notes will definitely keep you awake but you'll end up with sore throat. :) Besides, like the post stated above, drink a lot of coffee as well as isotonic drinks will also help.

A sore throat is better than crashing... lol!
and hey, striving to hit those Mariah Carey notes are sometimes a lifetime trek... but singing works very well for me, too.
thanks for your reply!

hahaha... yah, that's a good one too. I always make sure I get enough rest before taking off on a long drive. I would leave at midnight because of the lack of SoCal traffic (if you've never experienced it, you're the lucky ones.) and I would go to "bed" around 5 and wake up at 11 to get ready to go. I also made sure I wore comfortable clothes that made it easy to drive...
thanks for your response!
