Rating People?

Does it matter if you rate people that respond to your post? I have rated a few but I noticed somewhere that it is important to rate people. Do you get paid anything for doing this? Thanks! =)

It is very important to rate people in my opinion. No, you don't really earn more per say by doing so, but it does count toward your participation in the myLot system. I normally rate everyone a +. The only time I rate - is when someone copy and pastes an answer of someone elses without giving credit, if they are abusive, if they give just a yes or no answer, or say I don't know. If they respond and it is about the topic of the discussion, even if I do not like what they say or disagree, I rate them +. We are each entitled to our opinions. I think rating others also helps improve your overall rating here at myLot. Welcome and happy posting.

Thank you for your response. I will definitely keep that in mind. I haven't given anybody a - yet but have felt like it. Guess I'm just a nice person! lol. I didn't know if there was any point in it though so that is why I quit doing it. But when I see posts that deserve a + I will give them but also take your advice on the - also. Guess you need to give people what they truly deserve. Thanks! =)

It is not essential to rate people but I always do it. I also like to leave a comment after the responses I receive just to let people know that I have read them and rated them. I also like to rate other peoples topics and responses even if I do not have a contribution to make.

im not certain if its important to you to rate everyone who replies to you or not but im absolutely certain its importent to the responders. Their mylot reputation is built on the percentage of plus ratings they get. So you rating someone really does make a difference. Also, you are more likely to get a positive response from people you have positively rated. When you get over 100 posts under your belt you will see why it is so important blessed be

i thought it was considerate to rate people all the time, but i have noticed in the last couple weeks that i have gone from a 10 to almost a 8 again. i dont know why i really havent posted anything that deserved a -. so now i really dont care.

You don't get paid for rating people, but that is where the star scores come from. It's a nice gesture to rate. It is also your opportunity to express your feelings if you believe there is objectionable material being posted.
