I used to live in Stillwater, Oklahoma but haven't been back since 1989. Do you live in Stillwater and what has changed in the last 20 years?

I live in stillwater. I really can't answer you question much though as I have only lived here for about 2 years. we love it though, it has a great small town feel. THey tore down a ton of houses, (prob. close to a hundred at least) and are putting up a sports complex there, they built a new shopping plaza, when you first come into town, on perkins, (coming from the turnpike) that has ROss, Belk, Rue 21, pet smart, linen's n' things, pier 1, etc. they have a lot of great new stores there. THey built a new walmart supercenter over on 6th, on the west side of town. Like I said I haven't been here that long, these are just the things that have changed since I've been here. Also, they are putting up and upscale condo complex across from campus, with condos starting at 200,000 dollars! I can't think of anything else. We love it here, but I have heard from alot of locals, that it has changed ALOT.

Wow, it sounds as though it has really changed! I used to live in Parkview estates...on perkins, coming in from the turnpike. It was near the water tower. Is that where the new shopping plaza is? I will have to try to get back that way and catch up! Thanks for the post, I'd love to hear more!

No, the plaza is across form "the lift" apartments, on the west side of the road. I belive park veiw is on the east. There is a new gas station right next to park view as well (I think). It has changed alot since I've been here, and they are building new things all of the time. I know of at least 4 places where new buildings are going up right now. Also, on sixth, they are doing a ton of construction on the roads, by the supercenter, makes me think they are getting ready for another big build. We'll see what happens. (:

I am from Durant Oklahoma and I am currently living in Oklahoma City. I drive by there frequently on my way to drop my kids off at their father's house. I couldn't really tell you much about it because I am verily over twenty myself. I think that twenty years would be a good time to wait before taking a trip back to your home town to see what all has changed.
