I do not watch My Name is Earl because I hate to see the talent of Jason Lee go to waste playing a dumb redneck. I am a life long Kevin Smith fan and have watched Jason Lee in different View Askew roles for years. He has also been in non Kevin Smith movies and has always done an excellent job. I understand that he most likely enjoys enjoys the noteriaty (sp) and slapstick comedy that goes with his sitcom, but I would much rather see him in a more serious movie role again. Sorry I responded with an opposite answer but I guess this show is a sore spot with me, please forgive.

I disagree with quite a bit of your response, mbizmom!
First, I think My Name Is Earl is a well-written sitcom and does not present Earl as a 'dumb redneck'.
Second, Jason Lee has hardly played any serious movie roles... The most serious I can even think of is him in that Steven King movie! Kevin Smith movies, great as they are, are not serious. They're at best cerebral candy, not thought-provoking or moving.
Third... I just really think that everyone in Kevin Smith's group of friends hit a stroke of luck in knowing him and having a career thanks to it. I guess Lee is an okay actor, but really he's no better than the oodles of others.

i have watched the show a few times and i thought it was funny. i dont watch much tv though. i do like becker late at night and survior is the one that i usally do watch. other then that i dont really watch much. i realy like the wife on there though and earl is funny too. his poor brother is as dumb as a box of rocks and i like him too.

I love "My Name Is Earl"? I think what I like best about the show is watching them find ways to make amends with the karma list. I am not fond of "The Office" though. I just can't seem to get into it. My favorite characters on Earl are Joy and Crabman. I love the two of them together.

Yeah men! I love this show! My favorite character is Randy, Earl's brother. I like his reasoning even its a bit long and confusing in the end you can see the clear thought of everything.
I also love Joy.. the ever hilarious ex wife of Earl.
Steve Carell is the best! I love his way of making into lie the character of being the boss as Michael! I can still remember some of his days at the John stewart show and His comical character at the "Bruce Almighty".

I think both of those shows are very funny.
I like Jason Lee as an actor and think that he's been hilarious as Earl. Ethan Suplee, who plays his brother Randy, and Jamie Pressley are awesome, too. I don't watch the show regularly, but I have seen my share of episodes.
The Office is hilarious as well. I love Steve Carrell, whether it's in this show or in movies. I have actually seen some episodes on BBC America of the original sitcom from England with Rick Gervais. I think it's an awesome concept and it plays the right amount of comedy and "reality show-like" situations.

My husband and I watch both of those on Thursday nights. They are soo silly but hilarious. When I first started watching them I thought they were stupid, especially the Office but I got into both shows and I now look forward to Thursday nights.

I actually watch both shows.
On Earl - aside from Earl my favorite character is Crab Man. I'm not sure who you were talking about unless you meant his brother Randy (Ethan Suplee). He's a great character. All of the are really. That is one really great cast of people and characters.
As far as The Office goes : My favorite characters are Jim and Pam. I just wish they'd hook-up already. I like Dwight though too cause he's just hilarious! Ryan and his woman on there are a riot too.

My Name is Earl is one of my favorite shows! and of course Earl is at the top of the list. i also really like Joy, cause she is just so over the top stereotype. and i cant remember the name of the character but i love Giovani Ribisi's character.
ive only seen The Office a few times, but i just dont like it. they characters are just too stupid in my opinion.

I watch both shows. I only got into My Name is Earl this season, but I really like it and it is pretty easy to pick up on the show even though I've missed a bit. I'm not sure who my favorite character is. Maybe Joy or Crabman. I like Earl of course too. The Office is hilarious. I really enjoy the show and it's humor. I think Jim and Pam are my favorite characters.

yes, i've watch it since its premier. the show offers a lot of kicks especially from earl and his brother randy as well as earl's former wife joy. more importantly, the show offers a thing or two about life that everybody should know. "do good things and good things happen. do bad things and it'll come back to haunt you!" definitely, like what randy said. "THAT'S DEEP!" :]

I love love LOVE Joy! That character is so quirky and funny. It's refreshing to see a talented, unstereotypical woman in comedy, too! She definitely doesn't fit any of the 'comedy actress' stereotypes, i.e., lesbian, fatty, ditz...
That show overall is just so original. It's nice to finally see a funny lower class sitcom after Roseanne."I know, it's Fruit Stripe."

my favorite character in my name is earl would have to be randy. Hes constantly clueless and he always just says watever he thinks. One of my favorite lines of his would have to be when joy says something about trees and then randy blurts outs, In the wizard of oz the trees through apples, trees are basterds.

I really find Darnell very funny. I love the Y2K episode where he has the big wheel of cheese, but he's trying to keep his love of cheese low profile because he's on a fake identity.

been watching a lot of this lately after getting the box set.
I haven't seen the remake of The Office, but I love the original version. Ricky Gervais is very funny. I like the uncomfortable silences when David Brent is trying to be funny. Gareth has me in fits! and Dawn and Tim are really sweet.
everyone should see the original programme. it's very funny.

aside from earl, my fave character is darnell, joy's second husband. he is so funny because he has that smart but dumb combo added with him being naive.haha go crabman.
the office? i have watched it a few times but instead of laughing, i got annoyed by the character of the boss. he is such an a**...sorry about that.

My wife & I watch the whole Thursday night lineup, Office, Earl, Scrubs & 30 Rock. Scrubs is not that good anymore. I think I like Joy best on Earl & Toby on the office.
